Limerick Friday

Garbage In, Garbage Out

A seldom wrong teacher named Gripe,
Ate spoiled fruit he called ripe.
As his innards would churn,
He was stubborn to learn,
And appended his menu with tripe.

I tried to give this one a bit of a double meaning. Does anyone see it? It’s a little far reaching maybe.

Sometimes thinking through these so hard in order to come up with something loses a bit of the fun for me. I have more often than not enjoyed my own limericks more when I have come back to them a few months later. Maybe this one will be the same.

Here’s the dictionary definition of Tripe:

tripe /trīp/
noun: tripe
  1. the first or second stomach of a cow or other ruminant used as food.
  2. informal
    nonsense; rubbish.
    “you do talk tripe sometimes”
