“Life Isn’t About Money”

This limerick was inspired by a challenge from my friend Jaci on facebook. I had posted the following…

I asked Owen (6) if he’d like to earn a quarter (for sweeping the kitchen floor) he said “no…that’s not what life is about…life isn’t about money.” I said, “is it about helping your family?” His yes landed him sweeping the kitchen floor for free.

…and her comment was, “great story…can you turn it into a Limerick?”

Of course I had to try:

Young Owen with skills rudimentary,
Was bid work for a fee supplementary,
He pronounced him content,
No pecuniary bent,
So his chores were then complimentary.
