Spinning

I have whirly twirly ideas spinning in my head and I need a break. I start to get overwhelmed by them and feel guilty for not acting on them…regardless of their ridiculous nature. I’ve started passing my ideas on to other people lately, in hopes that someone else will have more time than I.

For instance…my sister Becky. She is busy as all get-out, (do people still use that phrase?) but travels for a living with her family, so she might have some down time between rest stops for writing a book I think she should write. I e-mailed her this morning to tell her about it.

I have a little down time this morning and have proven myself pretty lazy. Owen had a fever and spilled the graham crackers last night, so I am home with him and the little guys this morning. I amn’t (a conjunction formed from the words am and not…don’t be afraid of it…it’s fun to say) feeling too good myself to be honest so I’m sipping sadni caj (okay…it’s Slovenian for fruit tea, Kristy brought me some spicy fruit mixture and it’s yummy) and nibbling on toast with honey.

I just finished watching the Sunday morning service via the internet and I’m all inspired now to paint something on my empty canvas that is 2009 (see two posts ago). I think I have a lot to think about and maybe all my whirly twirly ideas are useful after all. I’ll just throw in a pinch of focus.

Owen has acted completely normal this morning and I’m confident he will be able to go to school tomorrow. I was a little concerned we would have to keep him home the first day back.

Ivan is back in underwear. We are going to give him another shot. Actually it’s me that is potty training. Ivan just comes along for the ride.

Aron is learning the awful rules of our home now that he is able to crawl up and down the stairs he wants to bring toys down. Tisk, tisk, it will not be. I’ve been really surprised at him. He brings large things down the stairs two at a time. A little while ago he brought down Owen and Ivan’s light sabers without falling. Then he got half way down with a toy as big as he is. He got smart a little later and just threw a couple things down through the railing and then crawled down after them. Only to be sent back up with them yet again. He does obey quickly when I send him back. I just have to get a little more tough with him and start punishing him for bringing them down at all. Yuck…I don’t like that part.

And so a Sunday morning has passed and we are all still in our pajamas. I love it. Now…bring on the football.

  1. Hehe what about I’mn’t? As in, “I’mn’t feeling so well today.” I think it’s an underrated conjunction. 😉

We have a similar rule at our home, only since we don’t have stairs, the toys just have to stay in the bedroom or, for certain craft-type toys/supplies, at the art desk.

  2. I’m interested to hear about Becky’s book.

I had to laugh at the sadni caj link. I was expecting a link to Kristy’s blog, but you were making us look it up. I had Mr. Whitely for 3 English credits in high school….freshman english and 2 years of yearbook. Every time someone asked him how to spell a word, he quickly responded, “W-E-B-S-T-E-R”. When I saw you were only liking us to google, it made me think of him. ha What is ____? G-O-O-G-L-E–I-T.

Your posts about thoughts twirling in your head, canvases to be painted, and a meadow full of opportunity ring true for me. Obviously 2008 didn’t quite turn out the way I planned. His way is best, so that’s fine, but the new year has me feeling quite pensive. I look forward to seeing what is in store, yet there are times that thoughts of planning can almost lean heavily on the shoulders. My shoulders are feeling the weight of the heaviness and the levity of the hope at the same time. After driving through FL, GA, TN, KY, and IN, I’ve now found myself in another state.

  3. Focus has never been my forte – good luck with that. But whirly twirly ideas? If you need any more, I have those a-plenty 🙂
It does feel good to pass on some of those ideas, leaving room for Inspiration to bring you some new ones, doesn’t it?

  4. My new year’s resolution is to feel guilty about very little. I love twirly whirly ideas and I’m sure you’ll figure out which ones to give life to.

I hope you had a nice day in your PJ’s. If anyone deserves it, you do. 🙂
