Date Night

Kris and I had a date last night. We had movie coupons for Carmike cinemas and we also had to pick up a car-seat from Eric and Tisra that Tim and Kristy can use while they are here. All of this added up to a trip to Franklin and Cool Springs. We left the boys with Eric and Tisra for the evening and headed back toward Cool Springs to eat and enjoy a movie. We were both too tired to do much beyond a dinner and a movie type date but it was peaceful and relaxing to be together without the kids and be still for a little while. We had dinner at Carrabba’s and watched Ocean’s 13 at the theater.

Big THANK YOU to the Fadely’s for taking the boys for us. It was a treat for all of us. Owen loves being there. When I asked him if he had a good time he said, “not when it was time to leave.”

The Hall family will be here tomorrow. The bunk beds arrived today and the calendar is full for the month of August. We have dinners and showers and the Titan’s begin their pre-season games and it’s just loads of activity. Kristy is a little worried she won’t have time to relax but we will see to it that there is plenty of down time for the mom and brand new baby as well.

My dad is bringing more of his home grown sweet corn next weekend for us all to clean and freeze and divide amongst ourselves. I don’t think I’m going to be much help but I’ll do what I can. I can certainly sit and shuck corn, it’s the standing at the sink to clean or at the table to cut up that’s wearing on my legs and back. I’ll certainly do some of it but not as much as last year. The corn is usually really good and worth the effort. I hope it hasn’t been too dry this year to make it good and sweet.

Home grown tomatoes are on the agenda too I’ve heard. That is my favorite. I hope to can lots of juice this year. I used it so quickly last time that I wished I hadn’t used so much for other things. Though the sauce and salsa were delicious as well.

Sometimes when I just sit still and look around and really add it all up, even subtracting the big belly or the now and then stresses that come with living life I still come out on top. I’m so stinking blessed.

  1. Do you ever think of getting a couple of high barstools for sitting at the sink when your legs are tired? Target and Wal-Mart both sell them pretty cheap. All of my dining room chairs are barstool size since my table is at counter-top height, so sometimes I like to pull one up and do dishes that way. 🙂 Or, you know, wash corn. Or whatever you need to do.

  2. Mmmmmm! Fresh corn and tomatoes! The only thing that is better than just having them fresh is being connected to the gardener. You are indeed blessed!

  3. It sounds like a great date night. I hope you have a great time with Tim and Kristy as well. Fresh corn and tomatoes sounds great too (well minus the tomatoes part).

  4. Blessed indeed. Corn and ‘maters! Yumm.
Glad you had a date night. We had one Friday and it was so nice!
