Everyday Life

Oh What a Beautiful Morning…

It is gorgeous outside. And I’m still propping up my hopes that inside will follow suit. Not in the sense of physically viewing it as such, but rather in our attitudes and general well being. My boys are struggling a bit. Owen is still dealing with some allergy stuff. Hopefully the cooler weather will knock it out. He’s much better, but a lingering cough is so aggravating. And this morning Aron spilled the graham crackers twice. Once in the van and once after he fell down a few steps while Ivan was “helping him climb.” He’s napping right now so hopefully whatever was bothering his tummy is gone and the cool sheets and cozy blanket in a crib basked in sunshine will calm him down. I may crawl in their with him.

He didn’t fall far enough or hard enough for a concussion to be an issue…I realize how that last paragraph could sound. I was sitting close, just not in view of the climbing…I got to witness the landing though.

Kris and I were very productive packers last night. We got most of our bedroom done and now all that we need to finish is the bathrooms upstairs and a good portion of the downstairs. And we have over a week to do all of that. I feel good about it.

We are looking forward to unpacking again. I never thought I’d say that but we both have this desire to see our home look the way we want it and not the way we’ve allowed it to. We have a lot of little things that aren’t things we’ve chosen, but rather things we’ve been given or possibly chose many years ago and our tastes have changed. Don’t hear me wrong…I like to be given things. 🙂 I love the artwork that my friends have bestowed on me. Even if they matched nothing I have, I love to look at them. It’s really something how a homemade gift from a dear friend who knows you, can make you feel. It’s not an emotional episode each time I gaze on them, but there is a warmth that it provides in a room that most other “things” cannot achieve. I don’t pretend they have a presence, but I do presume that I am loved when I look at them. I like that.

There are a half dozen other things I’d like to write about but the most urgent, for lack of a better word, is my boy’s new cousin who will arrive sometime today. Kris’ brother Keith and his wife are in the hospital as I type and she is laboring toward motherhood. I have been praying for them and I hope that you will do the same. If you can spare a moment to mention Juda and baby Caleb to the Father I’m sure they will appreciate it. I want to say something profound about prayer here…but words just won’t do it justice. It is everything to those who need it.

  1. I understand the feeling of wanting to have things that you want and like and purchased for yourself. We’re not past the point of owning mostly things that have been given to us or were incredibly cheap so we bought it even though it wasn’t our style. So kudos to you and hope you enjoy your new space.

Praying for Juda and the new bambino too…

  2. You can tell Juda that I’ve prayed for them and that all of us mammas know that journey. What a blessing! Truly, a gift of God- the whole experience! I know it can be rough, but it is also so euphoric! Congratulations to the whole family!

  3. That is so exciting! I will be praying for Keith and Juda. We saw Keith at church on Sunday but I didn’t see Juda so I was wondering? Congratulations on your new home too and new decorating adventures.

  4. Mary, I AM behind the times….I didn’t know you and Kris were the proud parents of FOUR boys! How wonderful for you….God has richly blessed you!

  5. So, I just read this post and the one above it. I can’t pray about the labor b/c it’s finished, but I can say thanks for the beautiful little boy! How cute! Good job on the continued packing. From someone who’s moved too many times in the last few years…..moving isn’t much fun, but the improvement in organization, not to mention purging of unneccesary stuff is nice! Thanks for the emails about the smelling. I was at mom and dad’s and didn’t get much chance to do much online.
