In the Middle Pictures

My laundry room project was started the day my dad came to visit a few weeks ago. I wasn’t trying to side skirt the hubby and his help, but I know my dad and if he gets wind of one of us wanting to do something he can help with…he seems to move pretty quickly on it. I also know that my husband sorta appreciates my dad’s help when he’s swamped with work stuff, so it’s a win, win. Dad moved the appliances for me and I got busy. He and I had to work through some wall hanging issues too, but I finally got what I needed and got stuff on the wall, but I’m getting ahead of myself.

When the washing machine and dryer were moved out of the way, not out of the room, they were in the way on the other half of the room. This allowed me to paint behind them and up and around them but I still have the other half of the room to paint. I re-organized quite a bit of the stuff in there but there are still some things I’ll probably get rid of.

I have written out the to do list on this project in phases. Phase one was painting behind the washer and dryer, phase two was hanging the wall brackets for shelves on the wall behind them. I will eventually have 6 shelves on that wall. For now, to keep the cost below the phase two budget I only have four, but the way I hung the vertical shelf mounting brackets allows me to change things around without any trouble.

So here’s what I have done thus far, and I’ll let you know how phase 3 (painting the rest of the room) goes soon. Hopefully before my retreat this weekend.

A lot of these look the same, I kept trying to get more and more through the lens but it’s just a small space and I don’t have a wide angle lens or anything so it is what it is.

This is where the paint stopped. I also wonder if phase 3 is possible as phase 1 used up most of my paint. This paint was supposed to have a primer in it and go on nice and dense, but eh…not so much. I had to do two coats and in some places three. This being a small room I will be very disappointed if I have to buy more than one gallon of paint.

This is the little nook where I hope to store all my pantry items. I’m pretty excited about getting this all organized because I think I can use some of those pull out baskets that hang on the same type of vertical wall brackets I used for the other shelves. Fun.

There are still about 7 more phases and some of them are time heavy while others are cost heavy. Regardless, I’m excited about my plunge into progress.

Oh…and see before pictures here…if you’re interested or forgetful.

  1. I love it! I’m very partial to green, you know. Maybe it’s one of those colors that you have to use a tinted primer beforehand? I would have thought the primer-paint would have worked.
