Beautiful Kingdom

My brother e-mailed last week with some song lyrics he wanted some help with. His pastor is preaching a series on the Kingdom of God and their worship leader is apparently very open to suggestions. Joel wanted to give him some focused material on the subject to add to the direction of the services and felt that I might be of help. I sat down last night and did a little praying, a little study and between Joel’s start and a few additions of mine…came up with this:

Beautiful Kingdom
Joel Troyer, Mary (Troyer) Kelso

Father take this life
All I say and do
Spirit breathe on me
Let me live for You
I am governed by
Words that will remain
Not my will but Thine
For Your kingdom’s gain

Hands toward Heaven raised
Lord I lift my soul
Though my flesh is weak
You have made me whole
Humbly Lord I give
All my heart in praise
You are my delight
Let Your Kingdom reign

With the faith of a child I see, Your beautiful Kingdom
It’s the strength of a bended knee, It’s a beautiful Kingdom
And soon every eye will see, Your beautiful Kingdom
And now that You reign in me, It’s a beautiful Kingdom

Sovereign God of Love
King of every king
I confess my awe
In the words I sing
You are Holiness
You are Truth and Life
I surrender all
To Your Kingdom’s power

With the faith of a child I see, Your beautiful Kingdom
It’s the strength of a bended knee, It’s a beautiful Kingdom
And soon every eye will see, Your beautiful Kingdom
And now that You reign in me, It’s a beautiful Kingdom

Joel is having a bit of an awakening right now and The Lord is dealing with him in several areas. One of them is that tough assignment of resting. I know that He has a desire to “do” for the Kingdom and there is nothing wrong with that, but most of us walk through a difficult road of serving in the midst of misery before we are given a green light for our greater calling. He has a job and for that he is thankful but it is a job that keeps him out of church and that is a struggle right now while he is trying to make changes in his life. He needs the support of his church and they are giving it, but many of you know as well as I do how refreshing and energizing it is to worship WITH your brothers and sisters in the sanctuary.

A lot of prayers are being answered right now. I’m very excited to see what God will do next in Joel, those he is ministering to and in those who are ministering to him. It’s a good, good thing.

  1. I’m excited for what God has coming Joel’s way!

And, I love, love, love the collaboration going on here. Well done, bro-sis team!

  2. Thanks girls. I love that my friends have prayed for my family. It makes us all family doesn’t it? It also gives me incentive to share the good stuff with you.
