A Missing Bravado

The sunshine has been so beautiful of late. I’m enjoying it. I’m still cold, but at least I feel warmer on the inside.

It is Limerick Friday once again and because I am faithful to this exercise in silliness I have determined that I will force you, my readers, to endure yet another 5 lines of folly.

Giuseppe Donello Rosado,
Loved guac. but not avocado.
He was wholly inclined,
And proclaimed as he dined,
“This fruit plain, has a missing bravado.”

Not sure why this Italian fellow was so passionate about his Mexican food, but it’s not completely improbable is it?

I am transferring to the not so silly portion of today’s post now.

Things are truly looking up here. It’s amazing how the scenes change so suddenly and it isn’t always because of any tangible progress. Sometimes it is just one more encouraging word, or a simple change in perspective. Regardless, the changes are refreshing and I like the way God provides affirmation to Kris and I from different sources and in different ways, but with the same message and on the same day.

One thing that I believe today that I hadn’t wrapped my head around until yesterday is that we are not just getting through something, we are gaining something. Today, I believe that the last six months were (and continue to be) an opportunity we would not have chosen on our own, but one that God saw fit to bless us with. Today, I believe that we will be better off in the next few years because of what we have missed in the last few months. I probably should have believed that before, but I can’t say that I did. Hello…can you say Romans 8:28? Funny how I only apply it to things that seem believable. It’s true though. In the most unbelievable way. I don’t know if that’s encouraging to anybody else, but it sure makes me feel good.

I will sign off with these words from the first chapter of Psalms:

“Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV emphasis added.

  1. I’m so happy that you’re feeling encouraged. You never can tell where that breath of fresh air will come from, but when it does come – what a wonderful difference it makes!
    BTW, I’m with Giuseppe. Love the guac. The avacado? Meh.

  2. I’m so happy that things are looking up. And I totally get that internal change that is remarkable even when the external hasn’t changed a bit- or maybe gotten worse. It’s an amazing life changing experience that we never would choose but it couldn’t happen any other way. I pray for this season to end for you but also that you get from it everything that God intends you to. Trav and I had a similar discussion lately and I said something to the effect of, “clearly we’re being tested (why it takes so long to register I have no idea) but why don’t we just embrace it? Let’s ask for wisdom to finish this thing strong and to get everything out of it that God intends for us to”. That’s a complete shift for me. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I do know that God is in control of it. And that’s my two cents 🙂
