Tallahassee…Boy am I Behind

We went to Tallahassee for New Years. The Kelso family has for years made New Years their annual get together for the holidays. There is a dinner at the restaurant of Kris’ Grandma’s choice (that’s code for Chinese buffet) on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day usually includes a trip to the mall in the afternoon.

The older two boys did great on the trip down. They sit in the back seat and play and talk and laugh and I just love it. Aron did well, but he was a bit lonely I think. Sitting in the middle of the van pretty much by himself he was missing a little of the social interaction he enjoys. Complaints and purposely dropping toys so that we would have to pick them up for him were a big part of his drive down.

We drove down on Wednesday afternoon and were there by late evening. The boys jumped right into the hospitality and made themselves at home on the couch to watch TV.

On Thursday the rest of the family joined us and we enjoyed the company, the activities, the food and everything else. I’m allergic to something when I’m there so sniffles and sneezes were a significant part of my visit as well. I’m thankful that the boys didn’t seem to have the same problem and though Kris suffered some from it, he didn’t seem too bad off.

While there, we took several pictures of course. We have taken pictures of each of the boys at Grammy’s (Great Grandma Kelso) piano. This year it was Aron’s turn and though there could be a lot more consistency in their ages, how we dress them or trying to get the angles just right, I’m super happy that we have these. They are fascinated by the piano…most kids are and I hope that someday we can have a real piano for them to tinker with and learn on. I would so love to have a baby grand in my home someday. However, as Kris and I don’t play that would be a bit excessive don’t ya think? A used upright would be pretty cool too.

The trip back was delightfully uneventful and we were home in time for a good night’s sleep before going to church the next day. It was a great trip and I’m glad we were able to make it happen. We definitely prayed about the decision to go or not. I would have to say it wasn’t the wise choice in regard to our current financial situation, but I felt strongly that God wanted us to go. I think Kris did too, and I know that God has the whole financial thing figured out. I don’t.

Little “Thrasher”

I am not sure of the rules on posting pictures of the little guy, so I was extra careful here. I know you can’t see his face (and I’m sorry for that, because it’s a pretty cute face) but you can see how fat and happy he is. I was sort of proud of “Team Kelso” that weekend. Babies are a lot of work and they rose to the challenge quite well. It’s hard not knowing how long they will be able to invest in this little fellow and what will happen to him when he leaves their care, but they know that God has called them to it and I certainly believe that all they are doing will be rewarded. I think, despite the 4:00 a.m. crying, the teething that won’t stop and the questions and concerns that come up without warning, they are having a lot of fun too.

  1. I think Team Kelso is doing a pretty great job too.
I know I said it before – but those little boys at the piano just warms my heart all through.

  2. I’m so glad you were able to make the trip. I mean, it would be hard to get pictures at Grammy’s piano if you weren’t there. Love them.

  3. Love the piano pictures. . . and thank you for the kind words 🙂 It means a lot. I wouldn’t think you need to blur his head since it’s from behind, but I appreciate the thoughtfulness none the less! He IS a pretty fat and happy little guy, huh?! So glad he got to meet everyone!
