Blah, Blah, Blog

We’ve had a roller coaster weekend around here. Ups and downs are what make life fun right? Friday night Amber came and watched the boys for us while we attended a board meeting for BGM. It is always nice when Amber watches them. They love her. She always makes them feel like whatever they do is an adventure or that they are somehow getting away with something even when they’re not. The meeting went pretty well and the follow up Saturday morning meeting was productive as well. I was unable to procure a babysitter for Saturday morning so I opted to stay home with the boys and I’m really glad that I did. I woke up with a headache that would not go away, the kind where I felt nauseous and horrible, and I finally just decided to give in to it’s demands and covered my whole self up with a blanket and curled up on the couch while the boys watched Cars. They were still crawling on top of me and all in all way too close, but at least they were distracted enough not to ask for anything. That was all I really wanted. No one poo pooed in their diaper and no one wet their pants and I even slept for 30 minutes or so. I finally started to feel better just before Kris got back around 2:00. By then the boys were all napping and I was on high speed working around the house trying to make up for my couch time.

Saturday night I told Kris how interesting it is that even though I was completely unengaged with the boys while they were watching the movie, they had a generally good attitude and seemed really grateful that I was there with them while they watched. I have to remind myself every now and then that a little time with them (even when it seems like I should be doing something more productive) will allow me to get more done later when they are content because I’ve spent time with them.

I did get a lot done on Saturday evening and Kris picking up groceries for me was a real plus as well. He also went to the mall and replaced my phone. I had upgraded my phone last month but wasn’t really pleased with the feel of it and Kris was not happy that it wouldn’t sync with Outlook…which sort of bothered me too. We all went and looked at phones on Thursday night and the two that we liked weren’t in stock so the salesman told us he’d get them for us and he did. He drove to another location and picked up a Blackberry Pearl for me in a lovely dark red. I’m enjoying it. I have never been ultra picky about my phone, I just want it to work correctly and have a generally common sense approach to finding a number, dialing and of course answering. The Shine, which is what I upgraded to last month, was a nice phone but just wasn’t easy for me to use and that’s what it boiled down to for me. We got an excellent deal on the Pearl and though it has tons more options than I could ever want, it is easy. I can look at it and see what I want immediately. I will not be keeping the internet options on it…I don’t need any of that as I am home most of the time and can check e-mail and hunt down web sites pretty much whenever I want anyway. $30.00 a month to have e-mail in the car or even a GPS (if I’m driving anywhere that I don’t know where I am…Kris is usually in the car with his GPS) is really not something I feel is necessary. The phone, memos, lists, calendar and contacts are what is important to me and this phone does all of that with great clarity. I appreciate clarity.

Yesterday after church and a romp in the park with kids (the weather was INCREDIBLE) we put out a spread and watched the Super Bowl. It was a good game and had we not been so tired we might have enjoyed it even more. I was disappointed that the Cardinals didn’t take home the trophy, but was really glad for such a well matched contest. Great game. The National Anthem was impressive. If you missed it, Jennifer Hudson was incredible. I’m sure it’s on YouTube or something.

I took a couple of lousy pictures but at least you can see that the sun was shining and we were in it.

Today we took Kris to the airport again and the boys and I are without him for another week. I’m grateful he doesn’t have to travel as often as he used to and it’s nice for him to be able to go somewhere with such nice weather (southern California) in the midst of such a cold winter. I believe there will be one more trip next month and then hopefully he’ll be done with that project.

So…not much excitement to relate, but it’s good to have an outlet for relating even the boring stuff.

  1. Yay for shining sun! We had the windows open it was so nice- today is a joke, no? 60 degrees to 33 degrees! I really want warm weather!

And, hey, the boring stuff is the good stuff, too. 🙂 Sometimes, I am so so thankful that I get to have those boring days with the people I love so much. 🙂

  2. Eh. The boring stuff is still worth writing about. You never know what might be exciting to read in retrospect 🙂
That nap sounds nice…mommies need that kind of thing sometimes.
And yeah – Jennifer Hudson did *such* a phenomenal job!

  3. You make me sound so wonderful 🙂 It’s nothing I do. It’s your boys. They’re easy and fun. I forgot to tell you that Aron picked up my hand and gave me a “high five” when we were playing on the couch in the playroom. Too cute and too smart! 🙂 I could just eat them up.

  4. I think the blahs are all around since there’s not much exciting stuff to do these days. This winter seems *so* long.
