Amber and I had such a good time sewing together the other night and discussed the revival of our Sewing Party that seemed to fizzle out last winter. It had gone on for so long and seen so many good times that it broke my heart thinking about it almost all of last year. She and I decided that we would make the attempt at resuscitation this month. And so we have.
I have had the feeling that the label “Sewing Party” didn’t give the full spectrum of what we enjoyed at our get-togethers so I thought through some ideas for a new title and came up with “Girls In Stitches”. I hope that it does the trick. I’m not even sure if Amber likes it to be honest…she didn’t say. I wanted to communicate the idea that this is a girls night, but of course that usually connotes more of a social gathering which this is, but more than that it’s a night to be creative and productive. Then I tried to come up with some sewing/crafting phrases and of course in stitches is just a fun play on words. I mean…it totally says it to me. We laugh a lot when we get together and what could be more complete than Girls In Stitches right? Amber didn’t object so I went with it. I created a flyer, we sent it out to old friends and new and as a result we are looking at a group of 6 on Tuesday night.
I also created a blog a while back just for our sewing parties and since the change of name I edited and revamped and did a little writing. Amber edited a paragraph or two and gave the thumbs up on the blog and we are up and blogging. So…check it out…when you get a chance and look for all the up and coming exciting news and photos from our monthly exploits.
Amber came up with a wonderful idea, which is to offer a demonstration project each month. I was apprehensive at first because I was afraid to commit to coming up with something each time, but she encouraged me by saying she would handle it. Of course I got excited with her and have several ideas brewing. I’m sure that we will have more than enough projects and keeping them simple will allow us to do so without a tremendous amount of stress.
I am hopeful that our monthly meetings will not only be fun and inspirational for those who attend, but that we will be able to publish a lot of the information and creativity on the blog in such a way that we can be a resource on the web as well. My concern is my ability to keep up with it. Time will tell.
So…we’re back…and I hope that it will be all that it was and then some.
Wonderful! That sounds like so much fun.
When my girls and I get together for knitting, we seldom are as productive as we would be on our own, but we have tons more fun. I can’t wait to check out the blog!
Hey Mary! I wanted to say that I did get the flyer in my email and I would attend but Tuesday night is when I have my Bible study at church. Are you going to be doing it regularly again? I’d like to attend the next one if you are, since I am moving soon and I won’t have many more opportunities to do so. Let me know!

Wish I was there to be a part of this. . . it sounds like exactly what I need. I will definitely be keeping up with the blog! You’ve inspired me to start a project all on my own. This week I will attempt to make a wreath for my front door. . . or the garbage. We’ll see 🙂
I’m so excited that I can come. I haven’t touched the blocks yet but I really want to make that bag. It remains to be seen what I’ll be working on Tuesday but I do plan on working instead of just eating and talking 🙂
I wish I lived closer so I could come. I’m glad you’re going to blog about it so I can peek in even though I’m not there.
i wish i was there too so i could come!
Was it just me, or did that post read Amber, Amber, Amber?? 🙂
I do like the name silly. I’m sorry I didn’t say so before. I think I trust you creatively more than you trust yourself!
I’m super excited about tonight and about recruiting new talents to our old gathering.
