Everyday Life

This Week

We’ve had a busy week. We’ve enjoyed it a great deal and hope to continue our jovial mood into the weekend. Keith and Juda arrived on Sunday. Kris picked them up from the airport after lunch and just hung out here for the most part. Monday we did a little driving around, making use of the parks and restaurants Nashville offers. We visited Bicentennial Mall, Centennial Park and the Parthenon and had lunch at Hog Heaven. And followed the whole tour up with a stop at Maggie Moos where my boys ate blue ice cream. We also looked at the large train engine at Centennial Park because the boys were pretty excited by it when we passed. Did you know that what is considered the worst train wreck in American history happened in Nashville? 101 people were killed and 87 injured according to the plaque at the park. Wow.

On Tuesday…we drove to Franklin to kill two birds with one stone. I had to pick up some things from Tisra and we wanted to do something indoors so we found a bowling alley that has lanes for kids and the boys enjoyed bowling a couple of games. We spent a little time at the park with Tisra and her kids and then headed to Genghis Grill for some yummy lunch.

Wednesday Kris went back to work. The rest of us took our time getting up and getting ready to leave. We eventually took Keith and Juda to the conference Keith was to attend at the Opryland hotel where they would be spending the rest of their week. We had Aron dedicated that night also and I forgot my camera! Hopefully, I’ll get some copies of someone else’s pictures. They always give us a DVD also.

Yesterday, I drove to Kentucky to get a few things and last night I got to go out all by myself for an hour. I’ve been wanting to visit a little yarn shop that just opened up near the house. Last night I took the opportunity of Kris being home and ventured out with my hands free. It felt weird. It scared me to think how accustomed I’ve become to never being alone. I told Kris I need to do that more often just so I don’t become a freak. I might start talking to myself when I’m alone just because I’m so used to telling little people to stop picking their noses and sit still and stop screaming…stuff like that.

This morning I woke up to fog, or as Owen would say…”it’s froggy.” Hopefully it won’t be overcast all day. Tonight we’ll be meeting Keith and Juda for their last night in Nashville and have some dinner together. Weather and time permitting, we may try to squeeze in some mini-golf as well.

  1. Mmmm. Sounds like a very nice week. I’m sure that you really enjoyed your time out alone. Once in a while, I like to take myself to dinner or coffee alone. It’s wonderful to remember that you are a separate person from all those little ones.

  2. Hey Mary,

It sounds like it was a good week. I enjoyed talking back and forth with you by email last week! We’ll have to do it again soon.

    Love ya….
