PB&P?

Okay…so my trip to Wal-mart yesterday wasn’t a total loss. Even better than my rock star parking spot was the fact that they had pomegranates for sale. I picked one pretty little fruit and took it home with me.

Today the boys and I had a pomegranate opening ceremony (which is too sacred to be photographed) and then consumed every one of the beautiful seeds inside. It was like eating gems, they are so lovely. We even made peanut butter and pomegranate seed sandwiches. What could be better?

  1. I love, love, love pomegranates! I learned a tip just this year – they are much less messy if you open them under water, then drain them! You probably already knew that, but I just thought I’d share…..

  2. I wouldn’t have ever thought to put pomegranate seeds in a PB sandwich but it is very pretty. I’d like to say that I like pomegranate because it is quite the “it” fruit right now but I really don’t. It’s not that I haven’t tried to like it, I really have. Actually, I keep trying it hoping I’ll like it and I’m surprised every single time to find that I still don’t. Funny. But Chloe doesn’t like it either and she likes every strange fruit concoction that Travis throws her way. So it makes me feel like I’m not crazy. BUT I do like pomegranate Rock Star. It’s quite a yummy beverage and is one of Amanda’s faves.

  3. You had to know that I love poms!- my dad has a bush in his back garden. And, yes, they are amazingly beautiful- no wonder their image was embroidered on garments and carved into things during the making of God’s temple in the Old Testament. Little jewels. 🙂

  4. Owen got some foam halloween stickers from someone and of course they ended up in odd places. One of them was on his forehead all day yesterday.

  5. The seeds are encased in the yummy red package you see in the picture. It’s almost like eating small seeded grapes with a less tough skin, only it’s totally different. 🙂

I read something about people spitting out the seeds because, like grape seeds, they are rumored to damage the lining of the intestines. I don’t really think that’s a very common scenario and it would be difficult to eat these things without consuming some seeds. The seeds hold the fiber content which is quite good for those intestines.
