Overdue

I wake up a lot in the night. Early this morning at around 12:30 I woke up to turn and adjust the weight a bit and looked at the clock. Officially overdue, I realized. Only by 30 minutes maybe but overdue none the less. He will have to pay a fine when he comes out, 10 cents per day will be deducted from his piggy bank and as he is completely without means to pay or refill his bank at this point we will be calculating the interest and I’m almost certain that he will be paying for my retirement instead of his college tuition by the time it’s all said and done.

I have a busy day ahead, sort of catch up for yesterday’s “day off”, and if no baby arrives by afternoon we need to get ourselves ready for church. So, I have made my list and will be scrambling to bring some order back to KelsoHouse soon. I did straighten the living room, so that’s crossed off the list. I am going to play trains with the boys and then work on a couple things upstairs like making the bed and gathering laundry. It’s nothing difficult but each chore requires a bit of rest before and after. It’s really rather comical.

I did go to my meeting at church last night and I enjoyed it. A couple of comments I heard:

“Um Mary, they’re trying to have basketball practice over at the gym and they were wondering if they could get their ball back.”

“Mary! Are you pregnant?”

I had to laugh at these. So, don’t think I’m writing of offenses, I really thought it was funny.

The meeting itself was good. John Hagee read scripture, told stories and used quippy phrases to get us inspired and we all left smiling and felt pretty good by the time we left. It really was nice to be able to go. I appreciate Becky taking the boys for a second night in a row so that I could go. I feel like if I don’t make it to church tonight I’ll be quite content. Especially considering that I can watch it on the internet if need be. That would be one way to get through labor wouldn’t it. Lets hope I am so blessed as to go into labor today.

There are two other girls at church who were/are due around the same time as myself. Nikki was due on the 12th and went in to be induced on the 16th. Angela is due on Saturday but will be induced on Sunday if the baby doesn’t arrive on time. Wouldn’t it be something if I, who am decidedly the largest of the three bellies, went last? I hope I don’t last the week though. And honestly I hope for Angela’s sake that she goes soon as well instead of being induced. She carries large as well, straight out in front and cute as can be. Hers doesn’t hang as low as mine and doesn’t appear to be a toddler yet, as does mine. However I can see how uncomfortable she is regardless and I hope she has her darling daughter soon.

Last night as we drove up to Becky’s, Owen made a couple of memorable comments. One began with a question about my mother which led him to thinking about heaven and God and he asked, “Is God coming to get us?” I said yes and he asked, “later?” I said, “well, it could be anytime really…just like the baby.”

“the baby could come anytime?!” he asked with concern, then said quickly…”I hope it’s later!” Maybe I need to check his prayers and make sure he hasn’t been putting in requests against my wishes.

Well, it appears to be time to set up train tracks so I’d better go.

  1. Oh the waiting! I really don’t like to wait.
BTW, the Tennessee Agricultural Museum is near Traveller’s Rest which is right off of Franklin Road. There are signs. Emma really liked the trip and Bella just had fun running in the Iris Garden after the tour. They have a web site which you could google.
