While I’m Sitting Here…

I should update on the absence of news. We are still sitting pretty in our safe little world of two children and one on the way. Today holds a lot of plans in terms of things to do. Our Sunday school class has an event in Hendersonville this morning and our neighborhood is hosting a little social in the afternoon. I don’t know how we will fair with our nap needy boys but as they are still asleep at this point, I am game to give it a shot and see how they do.

The baby is still moving a lot and seems to have plenty of fluid and room to make himself comfortable. It was the same with Owen as I remember. My visit with Kathy on Thursday was confirmation that all is still quite well and we will see Aron soon.

Thursday also welcomed Michelle and Gabe for the afternoon. Kris’ cousin Michelle lives in Clarksville which is just enough of a haul that we don’t see each other much. But she came to help me get started on the art I would like to put in Aron’s room. We had a good time talking and working while the boys played upstairs and got a good start on our project. She let me use her paints and helped me to mix and match some colors in order to match the scheme we have going in that room. Later, Owen and Ivan and I recreated the crib mobile that I purchased at LaDonna’s consignment sale and we got it attached to the crib with only a little trouble. My crib is not made for most of the products that are produced for cribs. The rails are not spaced the same and the thickness isn’t conducive to most attachments. I found a way though, and it is hanging with the frogs from my shower (thanks Amber) all swaying gently to the tunes of the mobile. Owen and Ivan like to go in there and just watch it until it stops. They didn’t have mobiles so they were deprived. Poor boys.

I had a wonderful day with the boys yesterday. I did my few chores including laundry and dishes mainly. I did a little straightening and bed-making and napped when they napped, but most of the day I spent on hands and knees playing cars and clean up in the play room. After naps we cleared a large area to get out the Geo-trax set and began setting that up. That was interrupted by the need for dinner preparation and the excitement of daddy coming home. After eating our simple dinner of smoothies and cheese and crackers we all went back to the playroom and Kris set up a nice track for the boys. They divided up their train cars and went to town but after a while Owen got bored and moved on to something else. Ivan however, was as intense as I’ve ever seen him at play. He crawled around the track for a long time without a sound except to grunt now and then as he climbed over things. Owen and I sat at a table nearby playing with animal cards and lacing strings.

We don’t do things like that enough and it always amazes me how much easier it is for Owen to go to bed when we’ve spent more time together during the day. I’m the same way…a good conversation with Kris vs. a busy evening and exhaustion and the conversation will always allow me to rest more quickly than the exhaustion. My day doesn’t feel complete unless quality time has been spent with him. A little conversation or sincere playtime with Owen and he’s much more ready to lay his head on the pillow without complaining. Ivan, is pretty easy at bedtime usually. I lay him down give him his blanket and as I walk out the door I say “I love you Ivan” to which he will always giggle, and he’s good for the night.

I hear someone upstairs playing with the train again. Today has officially begun.

  1. Wow! I think we were all expecting news sooner with the events of last time. But thankfully you will not be pregnant forever- even though it feels that way.

  2. I was hoping to check this and see that you had delivered. I’m sure you were hoping the same. I’m starting to get back into the swing of things, but transition is a tougher process than I expected. Since I’m considering going back, it’s tough to re-settle and also begin to make plans to leave all at the same time!

I’m praying the delivery goes well, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about it. It was good to speak with you on the phone the other day. I really appreciated the consideration and the invite. I’ll keep it in mind, but right now my vacation time has a big fat 0 in it:( I’m amused and almost saddened that it takes going to another continent to get in better touch, but, nonetheless, I’m glad it’s happened! Blessings to you, friend!

  3. You’re one day closer today! It will happen soon (if it’s not happening right now!…it’s not happening right now, is it?!)
