Update on Chores

I have been taking the house one room at a time since our company left and cleaning sheets, dusting and vacuuming. I’m feeling really good about my progress so far.

Thursday – Guest room: vacuumed, dusted, cleaned sheets
Friday – Boy’s room: vacuumed, dusted, cleaned sheets (yes, Kris did take them off and put them back on for me, dear man that he is.) and cleaned off cluttered dressers
Saturday – Baby’s room: vacuumed, bed made up, clothes organized, diapers organized, new TV tray in the corner to hold tissue and other necessities, I think it’s ready for him.
Saturday – Hall bathroom: cleaned and mopped
Monday – Bonus/playroom: straightened, cleaned out “unplayed” with toys, vacuumed and held to a high order of “KEEP IT THIS WAY!”

There was a lot of sitting down and resting in all of this. But doing each room one day at a time has really been a good idea for me. It’s not too much to tackle, no early labor or anything, and I feel that I’ve accomplished something each day which makes sleeping that much sweeter at night.

Today I’m tackling our room, which is in pretty good shape since I tackled it last time. There are a few things that have made it into our room that need to find a better home and the closet is a disaster, but I’m tackling that later. Mainly a refresher clean in the bathroom, dusting, washing of sheets and vacuuming today.

Tisra is coming to take my boys off my hands this morning and I will pick them up later tonight. I’m so grateful for this offer as it allows me some uninterrupted work time and the opportunity to possibly do a kid free grocery shopping trip. Those of you with kids or with multiple kids know what a blessing that is, especially in the heat. Kristy and I traded those opportunities while she was here and it’s so much quicker.

Though I’m not in charge of the Night of Laughter this year, I still have some writing responsibilities and video editing for that evening and hopefully I will have some quiet to work on that as well.

Yesterday was a good day, having Kris at home and being able to enjoy the boys with no major responsibilities dragging us anywhere was a good feeling. We did go out to get some dinner. As I explained to Kris, we can eat at home if you want left-overs or grilled cheese sandwiches, but I am now in survivor mode in the kitchen. I only make what is necessary to sustain life.

So, unless there’s a baby in the next few days, I’m on track to have the house clean by the end of the week. I’m feeling good about that.

  1. I just read the last 3 entries and after reading about your feelings on how people look at your belly and/or comment, I understand why you were very impatient with me when I joked a couple of weeks ago about helping the baby come a little early. I don’t remember now what I said, but you let me know quickly that it was a dumb idea.

I like doing the one room at a time thing myself. It doesn’t sound so overwhelming.

  2. One room at a time…sounds very practical.

I’m on survival mode in the kitchen myself, but I don’t have a pregnancy excuse. I’m going to blame the heat 🙂
