Visit

Yesterday, Kris’ mom and the boys and I went for a little drive over to Lutz, Florida to visit Melissa Weber and her children. Since their move to Florida, in January I believe, Owen still talks about going to see Jayna and play with Jayna and has not quite grasped that we can’t just drive to Hendersonville to see her. So, when we knew we were coming down to Florida I tried to make sure we would have time for a trip to see them all. Our evenings are very full this week so a day trip was in order and as Josh works during the day we were unable to visit with him and decided to make it a girls reunion and leave Kris behind. He had a productive day and was able to have lunch with an old friend and make a couple visits of his own. Our drive to Lutz was preceded by a visit to a mall in nearby Tampa where I purchased a few goodies at Harry and David and a pretty dress for the wedding at Motherhood Maternity. I was looking for something like a pale, large print, floral. I’ve seen a lot of sun dresses like that and didn’t think it would be difficult to come by. However, they don’t seem to have those in maternity sizes so I tried on a pretty brown dress and it was surprisingly complimentary. I tried several others that were just not made for me or weren’t suitable for an evening wedding. So the brown dress accompanied us on to Melissa’s place.

When we arrived at their apartment I was expecting and was not surprised to find myself immediately at home in Melissa’s wonderland of family. Little Jonathan is sweet and a very peaceful baby, Krista was more talkative and yet her usual observant and content little self, while Jayna introduced Owen and the rest of us to everything she could think of. We took a little walk to the playground after a yummy lunch and the kids played until absolutely exhausted. It was such a nice and refreshing day with familiar friends and beautiful breezy weather. Although there was a lot of smoke blowing down from the Georgia fires in the morning, they had cleared for the most part by afternoon and did not intrude upon our play time.

We left their place at 3:00 and made one stop on the way back to Lakeland at a Strawberry farm market where we got three strawberry milkshakes and one chocolate (no, it wasn’t for me it was Owen’s request, I do admit to helping him finish it though) and finished our trip in strawberry bliss.

Kris and the other men helped his brother Keith move into his first apartment and we had a great family dinner together. Today is less active but I’m working on it.
