Everyday Life

Beautiful Day

After a long day of driving yesterday we arrived in Florida just after Mid-night. The boys, who were excellent travelers, slept the last bit of the trip and were otherwise awake most of the time. They played, and giggled, and talked, and drooled, and were pretty compliant to our demands for no screams and requests for patience. Could you have seen their delirious looks as we entered Grandma and Granddaddy’s house you would have laughed. They both awoke but only to acknowledge that they had no idea who any of us were and when we laid them in their prepared little nests they immediately resigned to sleeping the rest of the night. Kris and I too were very tired. Neither of us having taken any naps and Kris having only given up the driver seat a small portion of the day, we found ourselves exhausted and so happy to have arrived. Sleep took us quickly and the morning only rubbed us the wrong way but didn’t offend us with its sunlight. I couldn’t stay in bed long with the giggles I was hearing in the next room. I threw my pillow onto Kris’ head to further protect him from the light and noise and made my way to the living room to watch the boys enjoy Grandma. Owen was in heaven and Ivan soon followed as he warmed up to Grandma and later Mema when she arrived to ooh and aah over them. Little children know when people love them and they respond accordingly. I enjoyed being somewhat lazy today and feel much better this evening. I think I needed the recovery time. I stayed still most of the day, finally getting myself up to enjoy the absolutely gorgeous weather. It’s bright and breezy here as the rain and storms have ushered in some cool weather to greet us. We spent a little while walking around, took in the sights at the lakeshore from the neighbourhood dock and Kris rode around a bit on his brother Keith’s Vino. I sat on a chair just relishing the breeze and was once again reminded that God really likes me.

Tonight Shane and Angie and their two adorable boys will join us for chili here at Kris’ parent’s house. They’ll be here in 10 minutes so I’m going to go. I’m enjoying a beautiful day.

  1. I love vacation! I’m only slightly envious that you’re hanging out with Shane and Angie tonight 😉

  2. Sounds like fun. I’m jealous that you’re in Florida and I’m not. I’ll be there soon though 🙂
