To the Zoo!

We are going to the zoo today. Mincy and I are taking our youngin’s and heading to the little zoo that could in Nashville’s least likely district to house such a wonder. Who would think you could get away from it all after driving through Nolensville Road’s thriving community of iron clad windows and less than reputable looking characters roaming the congested streets. Yet, in amongst it all there is a place where most of the area will take their innocent children to see the elephant, the giraffe, the tiger and more. And so we pack bags and join them today. Hoping that all the nice weather and freedom of Friday will not bring too many out with us to crowd our little haven.

I have to say that I think I’ve conquered tired Mary. I was thinking through my lack of energy and landed upon a theory that I now think is true. Because of my pregnancy’s poor beginning, including nausea and more nausea, I allowed myself lots of rest that I didn’t allow myself with my other pregnancy’s. Just like when you nap too long or sleep too late, I wasn’t getting out of that mode and the tiredness remained despite the fact that the first trimester was over and the nausea a thing of the past. So, I made the decision to get moving despite how I felt and sure enough the tiredness went away. Yesterday, I was able to do a lot more, and though I don’t want to push it too far, I am not going to allow myself to slow down too much either. Going to the zoo today will be a short trip and I will be back home in the early afternoon to rest and recover. But I will not stay home because I don’t feel like going. I will go because it’s good for me, and it’s certainly good for the boys. Better get ready.

  1. Yeah, I always wondered why they put the new zoo in such a run-down part of town. If you get a chance (and haven’t already been) you should do a tour of the old mansion- they explain everything in there.

I’m glad that you’re feeling better- I hate that crummy tired feeling.
