A Bit of Girlyness

Yesterday, I did what was necessary in terms of chores and housework, prepared a meal for Kris and by late afternoon the boys and I were out the door to join Tisra and her kids for the evening. Tisra is less one husband for a short while and as my husband had a meeting with his ultralight group, we figured we may as well do something girly. I brought “Wives and Daughters” which is 5 hours long and after we had eaten, settled the kids down as much as possible and baked a few cookies, we sat down to watch it. I have seen it before but have rarely been able to watch it with someone else as Kris is not interested. My Mother-In-Law gave me the movie, so the two of us have seen it and enjoy talking about it. Tisra and I didn’t have enough time for all of it, but we watched the first two episodes (it’s a miniseries) and I left the movie with her to keep her company until Eric gets back. I think she’ll really enjoy it. I know I do. The boys both did fairly well. Owen used the opportunity to break all known rules because he was not at home and I was occupied. Once Tisra and I both explained that all rules were still active regardless of the change in home occupancy for the moment, things got a little better. Boys will be boys though and there was some romping going on upstairs that caused us to roll our eyes but no one screamed in pain so we left it alone. Ivan wasn’t feeling well, but once he was sufficiently fed, he fell asleep and contentedly remained so for the rest of the night. Owen and Grant outlasted Dean in the sleep category but once Grant was off to bed I insisted that Owen sit with me on the couch to watch our movie and sure enough…he was out in minutes. I was tempted to sit up with Tisra for another episode but the thought of driving home as tired as I felt already was beginning to concern me so we packed up my boys and I got them home safely. Kris was still awake which made me happy and I got to talk to him for a few minutes before passing out. I had a good evening.

  1. Ok- I can’t wait ’til the kids are in bed and I can turn on the DVD again. I watched episode #3 after you left and it was all getting really good and I didn’t want to stop but by that time it was quarter to 1 in the morning and I knew that I had to get sleep! I had a lovely time.

  2. I have a friend with two boys. She borrows my girls when she is in testosterone overload! We do evenings like that one also. So fun.
