I have had a busy and productive week. I was able to get another quilt into my frame downstairs and have begun stitching something up for Owen. When I was in Michigan last month Reubmommy had given me a quilt top she had pieced with Owen in mind. I set out on Wednesday to purchase some muslin for the back and batting for the middle. I got the whole thing stretched onto a frame and then asked Owen what he wanted me to quilt on it. We settled on “letters” and I have printed myself some stencils to mark the alphabet around the border. I have completed quilting “A” though “D” since then and it looks pretty good. I still haven’t decided how I want to quilt the blocks. They are small nine patch blocks in a wide variety of colors and prints. I held the top up for Owen before it was in the frame and asked him if he liked it. He said, “oh, yes, nice colors.” Later when I was putting it together he said, “mommy is that my quilt of many colors?” In reference to the Bible story of Joseph and his coat of many colors.
Yesterday I met Amy at the playground and we held the little ones while the bigger kids played. Chloe was so cute, instantly making friends with the other children and Owen wore himself out. He fell asleep within about two miles of the church after we left. We had to make a couple of stops on the way home so his nap was cut short.
Ever since our Memorial Day fun with the Fadely’s, Owen has been asking to “slide into the pool”. We’ll have to break out the water toys again soon.
Amy LOVES her quilt and I can’t wait to see the new one you’re doing. How special is that- that Owen gets a quilt from his great grandma and his mom in one go?!
A quilt of many colors will make Owen feel so special and loved!
I do love, love, love Halle’s quilt! I put it on her to cover her last night and couldn’t wipe the silly grin off of my face. It’s the first thing I’ve sewn for anybody- of course I didn’t do the hard part. I did sew it though so I’m counting it.
The kids had such a good time- especially Chloe. We’ll have to do it again sometime.
It’s funny what sticks in kids heads. I like the comparison, coat of many colors. Pictures!
Great action shot! I love it! I love that he called it his quilt of many colors~ so precious.
No new update?! Hey, do you want me to send you the pics I got on Memorial Day? I didn’t know if you got many since I was quicker to the draw. 🙂 I snapped some sweet ones of the carrot pop incident. I say “incident” because Eric will insist it was nothing less than a crime that such a thing could be made or eaten. Oh well.
