Mother’s Day

Theater This morning both boys were up for a little Veggie Tales so I set them up Theater style. Ivan is now screaming so I guess he’s not as interested in it as Owen…hmmm…who would have guessed that? I’ll go get him.

I’m back…did you miss me?

Thought I’d blog about my weekend a little before it’s too long ago to recount with accuracy and relevance.

Friday we drove to Kris’ cousin’s house (as mentioned) and Kris got one of their systems set up, we had a very good dinner. Owen ate so well. Ham, beans, squash casserole, salad and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Yummy. Owen actually had seconds of the squash casserole…I was so proud.

We talked and made ourselves at home. We planned to spend the night so we all got some rest for the night and then the boys woke us up bright and early to start on Saturday adventures. Owen was promised a trip to the creek and that we did. He loved it. The water was cold but not unbearable and had I brought more suitable attire I would have had a swim. It was very clear and we had a good time finding the fish and of course, throwing rocks. We were down there for about two hours I suppose. Kris brought us lunch once he had the second computer set up. We drove back up to the house after lunch so that Owen could get a nap. He got a bath and then I laid him in the bed Kris and I had slept in so that he would feel special. I even laid down with him for a little while. With the windows open and a wonderful cross breeze I nearly fell asleep myself. Ivan was determined that was not going to happen.

We visited the rest of the afternoon and then went to the little restaurant in Bethel for a catfish dinner. We left for home from there and Owen wanted to ride with daddy. Kris set him up and he had a blast. I am expecting him to write more about that in his blog so I’m saying no more.

We were home in time for Kris to go over his lesson, get the boys in bed and wind down a little before bed time. It was a really lovely day.

Sunday came early. Both boys woke up ready for action and earlier than normal. That was fine. I had everything ready for them and we were heading off to church in no time. Church was very good, as you would expect on Mother’s Day. Owen brought home a couple of things for me that he had made in class. He wanted them for himself however, so I made sure to hang on to the one that I liked the best and let him have the rest. Maybe he’ll get it next year. I had made up a waffle mix on Friday and we had waffles and sausage for lunch. I know I’m not supposed to cook on Mother’s day but pouring batter on a hot iron isn’t exactly a big deal so I insisted that I would make our simple lunch. I love waffles.

The afternoon went by quickly…I don’t know if Kris did it on purpose or not but he let me talk his ear off discussing things I want to do to the house…a perfect gift for me…his time, his input and his ear. He went and picked up pizza for dinner and we put Owen in bed early because he never had a nap. It was an exceptional day to be a mom.
