Everyday Life

I’m American!

I’ve had a busy week. A good busy week. Nothing much to write about but I felt I should catch up a little on my blogging.

I’m almost caught up on laundry and the kitchen is clean except for the floor. I mended my dad’s shirt and need to mail it to him. I mowed the yard yesterday in the incredible weather before the rain. It was windy and cloudy with the sun peeking through every now and then…it felt wonderful.

Ivan is doing well. He’s just fun. Owen has an ear infection, but doesn’t act like it bothers him at all. We got some medicine and he’s doing fine. He learned his phone number yesterday and this morning as he was coming down the stairs he was reciting it then saying “mommy, that’s my phone number!” He makes me smile.

Mother’s Day is coming up and I’m sort of excited about it. Not because of any big plans but because I have no expectations or ideas of what it ought to be. I told Kris I didn’t want anything because I’m not his mother and the boys aren’t old enough to do things for me for Mother’s Day. When they are, I will expect all sorts of special things but until then they make me feel special just because I like them so much. I really like my kids. I hope I can always say that. Owen has become so affectionate…it reminds me of Chloe a little (for those of you who know her). He thanks me profusely when I do things for him and tells me he loves me all the time. It’s great.

Owen just walked in here explaining to me that he’s walking just like “me does.” Whatever that means.

I need to feed Ivan in just a few minutes. He’s been doing really well at playing so I’m hoping the toy he has will occupy him enough until I’m done typing.

Yesterday, Owen kept asking to play with Jayna so I called Melissa to see if they were busy and invited them down for lunch. Owen loves playing with Jayna and the two of them get into all sorts of things. Yesterday, he decided it would be fun to throw his blocks at the wall in the guest room. Correction commenced. When it was time for them to leave, he and Jayna were both in tears…he was standing on the stairs telling me “I need my Jayna!” She was in the kitchen completely distraught, and replied “I can’t stay Owen!” in the most forlorn and dramatic tone. It was like watching two young lovers who were being separated for the rest of their lives. I laughed at them…to their faces no less. That helped a lot. It was nap time as you may have guessed and I don’t know what happened to Jayna, but Owen slept hard until I forcefully woke him up at around 5:30. Wow.

Today we are going to drive to Kris’ cousin’s house down south of Leiper’s Fork. Kris is going to get them all set up with their computers in their new house and then we will spend the night down there and have all morning tomorrow to visit.

Time is up…the toy isn’t cutting it anymore.

  1. Owen and Jayna are so cute. I love those little stories and it’s good that you document them, that way you’ll have stories to tell him when he’s older and gets embarrassed about such things.

I’m glad you have your own little “Chloe”, I think everybody should have one.
