Ivan and Owen are officially roommates. On Friday night (December 30) Kris’ family was gone and we turned the boy’s bedroom back into the boy’s bedroom. Owen got his sheets washed and the plastic guard put back on his mattress as well as the rail on the side of his bed and Ivan was given the opportunity to prove himself by sleeping in the crib. Both boys slept beautifully and Ivan has been doing great with longer periods of sleep during the night. Last night I fed him at 10 p.m., 2 a.m. and then in the morning at 6 a.m. just before the alarm went off. I was very pleased and felt very rested this morning. I’m hoping we can continue this trend. Owen has also done well. He doesn’t wake up when Ivan cries or when I switch the light on so I can change Ivan’s diaper. Kris and I are much relieved to have them out of our room which was the temporary arrangement while Kris’ family was here. I don’t think we’ll ever try that again.
In other news…It’s the New Year! I had a great day and we had a good turnout once again in Sunday School. The sermon was very encouraging and motivating this morning…so appropriate for a New Years Day service.
Have I made any resolutions you ask? Well, not officially, I just want to rid my body of baby weight a little quicker than I did after Owen’s birth. I think this time I can be a little more realistic as well as a little more encouraged because I did actually get back to pre-baby weight so I know it’s possible for me to be disciplined enough to do it. I think I just need a plan and I am beginning with the tread mill that LaDonna gave me. My goal: 15 minutes at least 5 days of this week and work my way up as the weeks go on. Doesn’t sound like much but I know how winded I get and how quickly I can get discouraged if I set my goals too lofty and fail. I also know how valuable 15 minutes is right now. Ivan is very consuming as a nursing newborn so each minute of productive time around the house is precious. I consider this important enough to sacrifice cleaning time for and will probably find myself more efficient as I weigh less and gain more stamina. Listen to me ramble. I think I’m still trying to justify my 15 minutes. Silly Mary.
Dad, Timothy and Kristy and their boys arrived in Nashville this evening. It was so nice to see them all and to meet little Thad for the first time. He is just as plump and precious as I had imagined with an ever ready grin that is completely contagious. Kris got a few pictures of Clay and Owen playing together so I’ll have to post those when I can. This should be another busy week and I’m looking forward to all that unfolds. Kris is asleep and I must follow soon.
I believe with all my heart that this is going to be a great year.
Keep that belief alive, I’ll second it! I’m glad your boys can share a room so early. Mine didn’t do so well. And still don’t sometimes! Oh well.
15 minutes is a good goal to start with. I do the same thing you do and always end up failing. So I like 15 minutes. I may borrow that one.

Glad to hear the tread mill will get more use at the Kelso household.
Good for you! Something as necessary as sleeping shouldn’t be difficult.
