I Like Go To Mall!

Yesterday, one of the first things out of Owen’s mouth was “Go to Mall?” I’m not sure where this came from, but he said it just the same and when asked about it insisted that yes, he indeed likes the mall and wants to go. I was in the mood to get out, especially since I was having that Chick-fil-a craving, so we made a pit stop in Hermitage at the Place of Chicken and headed to Opry Mills. It wasn’t too busy on a Tuesday morning so I wasn’t too concerned about taking both boys and one stroller. We walked the entire thing, got a couple of needed items and took our tired selves back to the car. Owen cried. He seriously likes the mall. I can’t explain this but I’m hoping it was just a mood he was in. I enjoy going to the mall now and then but I don’t think I’ve ever cried when I left, unless it was because I spent money I shouldn’t have. Regardless, half of the trip home I heard Owen in the back seat repeating “I like go to mall…yes!” Joey was very good and slept a good portion of the time in the stroller. Owen was a little perturbed that someone else was in his seat but held up pretty well on his feet. I had to prod him on a lot and tell him “no” a lot because he would lag behind and point into stores we had no use for and say…”how bout…this way?” Once we were home I tried to put him down for a nap and when he laid down he said…”daddy go to mall?” Strange. I guess if Grandma needs something for Owen to do while they are keeping him in a couple of weeks she can just take him to the mall. That should please both of them.

I didn’t get a lot done at the house yesterday but did manage to get dinner on the table before too late and then feeling very energetic I went outside and mowed the back yard. I got done with just a sliver of light left but really felt good and sort of enjoyed it. It makes a huge difference when the sun isn’t beating down on you.

Today I am sort of thinking quilt. I have a few chores I need to do so in between things I’ll try to get that calico collection on the move and hopefully make some good progress today. Joey is down for a morning nap and Owen is playing where I can hear him. That’s another thing he did yesterday. This week he learned how to open doors. Ahh! I changed his diaper yesterday morning and then went to tend to Joey and didn’t hear anything from Owen when I got back. He was in his closet pulling books off the little shelf in there. It wasn’t too troublesome but nothing is safe anymore just because there is a closed door in front of it. Does the training never end? Of course not…silly question.

  1. They sell doorknob covers cheaply at stores like Wal-Mart and Target. They worked for us for a long time….until Gabe learned how to take them apart. (HOW? I CANT EVEN DO IT EASILY!) But they are good for closet doors and doors to basements or the like. It slows the kiddos down. And of course you can always install little hooks near the tops of the doors where they can’t reach them. I keep meaning to do the hook-thing with my own doors. I’m sure Gabe would still find a way to get in wherever he was trying to go, though. :

  2. Bella figured out doors a few weeks ago. Nothing is safe. Except we do have those afore mentioned doorknob covers for the front and back doors.
Oh, the mall. Beware. Be afraid! Lou loves to shop. He suggests trips to the mall WAY before I do. What is that?

  3. Door knob covers? Absolutely no offense to ANYONE . . . but I just don’t get it. Maybe I’m the odd one out on this, but I didn’t do the outlet covers, the cabinet door locks, or the door knob covers. Our parents taught each of us the dangers of the household without these items. So, why are we suddenly dependent on them?
