Isn’t this a pretty picture? I’m sleepy! I woke up at 5:40 and have not been able to get back to sleep so here I am…yawning at the kitchen table. As I make my list and slowly get acclimated to a new week.
We had such a nice weekend. Amber dropped Madison off on Saturday so that she could go into work for a few hours. We had a great time outside…the neighbors have kids her age and she had a blast. Owen wasn’t quite as happy about things. He wanted to be outside but wouldn’t cooperate as far as staying in our yard. He insisted on walking from one end of it to the other trying to go to the neighbors playthings or the front yard where the open road was calling his name.
Kris and I sat on the back deck…he blogged and I sewed. We both felt like we should be doing more activity on such a beautiful day but one of us had to stay with the kids, so Kris went on a bike ride by himself. I think I’m going to try to go this afternoon if it is clear.
Sunday we had another great service at church. Pastor Davis has been changing the format a bit and our services have been longer and more intense. We used to have droves of people leaving when the service went past 11:30 or heaven forbid 11:45. Now…we still have a few people trickling out, I imagine it’s because they absolutely have to, but I don’t see people anxious to leave like they used to. I am in the choir and we have been staying up in the loft the entire service. Yesterday I watched the crowd and even when Pastor Davis started winding down and talking about leaving, it was as if the crowd was just on the edge of their seats waiting for something else to happen. We have had huge alter calls and people are being touched. I don’t know details but I have heard of several healing testimonies.
We ate left-overs for lunch yesterday and Owen refused to nap so we decided to go out to the Opry-Mills mall and walk around. We left there and went back down to Elm Hill Pike near our old house and had dinner at Casa Fiesta. We hadn’t been there in a long time and it was so good. We can always count on being filled up without spending a lot. Owen loved his cheese quesadilla and refried beans. He was a mess.
Owen has been getting lots of compliments recently. He has moved up to the Toddler room this past week and seems to be adjusting very well. The workers are new to him and have told me that he’s a good little boy. I’m so glad. I was a little worried that the more mobile and active room with bigger and rougher kids would be intimidating to him, I’m glad to hear that he’s enjoying himself and getting along well.
We also had a surprise yesterday morning in Sunday School. One of our husbands has been in Mexico helping to stabilize and calm his family after two deaths in their family. His wife has been here, pregnant with their first child together. He was scheduled to be back in a couple of weeks but made it back on Friday instead and we were all so glad to see him. Johnny and Sencery are a real joy to have in our class and we are thankful that he could get back to his wife early.
Another couple from our class made it back to church yesterday but not to Sunday School. Samson and Ann were sitting in the mother’s with infants section with little Joseph. I am so glad that Ann felt good enough to come. What a blessing. She has had a rough road but it sounds like things are getting better all the time. Last night was the last night that we had meals taken to them. They came home from the hospital a week after the birth and have had meals every night since. Two weeks of meals was a little intimidating but with the help of another Sunday School class and our wonderful realtor Elaine, we were able to pull it off. Praise the Lord for provision.
I miss Cornerstone so much. There are no churches like that around here. I can’t help but think that if we’d stayed longer we could have learned so much more.
Ah, Casa Fiesta, I miss that place too. Opry Mills…unlike two of my other friends I love shopping and miss Opry Mills very much.
