On the way home from church last night Owen was very hungry and tired. He screamed and cried all the way out the parking lot and down the road. He was threatening to keep it up all the way home so we began trying things to make him stop. We tried toys, they were promptly thrown to the floor in disgust. We tried peek-a-boo which was tolerated at best. We tried singing…that seemed to have a good effect but it didn’t last too long. Maybe it was because I ran out of songs…he’s somewhat particular about what songs he’ll listen to. Jesus Loves Me is just fine, along with Jesus Loves the Little Children and a few select others. Nothing too fast or flowery though…soothing songs where mommy’s voice doesn’t go up too high. I repeated a few then began singing Jesus Loves Me again but this time when I got to the chorus I sang…Yes, Jesus Loves Owen. Here, he errupted in giggles. Over and over we sang Yes, Jesus Loves Owen and he giggled so much, Kris and I were giggling too. It was pretty comicle. We made it home without going crazy and Owen was fed, rocked, sung to some more and put in bed for the night.
