Walking It Out

It’s time to get the boys up but I wanted to post quickly and say that things are going well. I was able to get all the shopping done for Owen’s birthday party yesterday and only need to pick up the cake and balloons and pizzas today. I got some shopping done for me too. Kris’ mom and I went to Providence and I grabbed a couple outfits that will allow me to be on stage Saturday in something less than 10 years old and without snags or faded fabric.

I still have a long list today but feel so good about all of it, that I’m not frazzled. I feel the stress, but it isn’t making me a basket case.

There are a lot of added issues thrown in this week and last week that were completely out of my control but I am in a place that I must deal with them and sincerely want to deal with them. Our Sunday school class members are being bombarded with a lot of things all at once it seems and our hearts are torn for them. We are reaching out and have been amazed at what God is doing, even to the point of being thankful that Kris isn’t working so that he can be present and engaged in some of these situations. One woman had surgery last Monday to remove part of her colon after they found cancer. A young couple had their first baby on Thursday and ended up having a C-section. The baby had to stay in the hospital a few days longer than mommy due to jaundice. Some of you know the emotional and physical trauma that puts on a recovering mommy. Another couple e-mailed two days ago to announce that their divorce is imminent. And late Tuesday night we got a call that the brother of another class member was shot and killed. Needless to say, I’ve cried a lot the past few days. Each situation has required a different set of prayers and thoughtful consideration over our reaction.

All of that is a part of today’s list as well. Putting a few minutes aside to make some meals for people is possible because (and I’m so proud I can say this) I planned ahead enough to make it possible. God is good…He’s sure been good to me…and I have made it my personal mission to let the rest of the world know just how good He is.

Now…time to wake up those boys.

  1. Oh my. It’s hard to even know what to say but I’m thankful with you that God has given you such peace. I’m sad for what you’re going through with your class but I’m truly excited for what’s ahead for you.

And Mary Kelso went shopping?!? Say it ain’t so! Kidding of course. I’m glad you were able to get some new things- that always makes things better for me.

  2. Indeed, God is good.
Sometimes, His goodness shines through best when circumstances push us so far to the edge that we have no choice but to throw our hands up in the air and let Him do His thing.
Glad to hear about your new outfits 🙂 Every girl deserves that once in a while.
