A beautiful girl named Dora,
Held a presence, a nimbus, an aura.
It was said of her hair,
And her eyes oh so fair,
“They steal glory from fauna and flora.”
My limericks seem to be lacking cleverness more and more. Forgive me. I am working late tonight. Tiredness is often my excuse.
It is a holiday. We have the in-laws with us and they always keep us up late…or is that we keep them up late? It is quite possible that we are each keeping each other up and both parties blame the other.
I am the last to commit to bedtime tonight. I should be going. I may, in my state of tiredness, write something ridiculous here.
Good day and Happy Fourth of July my dear countrymen. May our banner of liberty fly strong and may we never forget that freedom is a responsibility, not a license for selfish ambition. God Bless America.
Happy 4th to you as well. Your last paragraph is well stated. Enjoy time with family!
Ah, but being able to pull off a limerick at all, beset with tiredness and in-laws, speaks to your deep cleverness 🙂 And I, for one, thought it delightful.
“lacking cleverness”- I think not!!! I still enjoy your limericks.
Enjoy your visit- I know that time with them is precious.
