I guess you could say we are still celebrating around here. I saw my sister and brother in law, Kristy and Timothy, this afternoon for the last time in a good while. They are heading off to visit more relatives soon and then off to their little home in the mountains of Slovenia. Our lunch visit today was our chance to say goodbye for now.
My dad will also be heading out tomorrow so my sister’s house will be back to just the six of them again in a short while. I’m sure she is looking forward to that, but with a lot of sorrow mixed in.
Kris’ family arrived here on Friday evening. Owen was delighted to have yet another Christmas gathering for the third day in a row. It was pretty fun. And we have been very busy since they arrived. We waved goodbye to the men-folk on Saturday morning as they drove to Goodlettsville to empty a storage unit for Kris’ aunt and load it all into a U-haul to take to a more convenient and less expensive location. We women and children left a little later and brought a few lunch supplies to the intended meeting point over an hour away at the home of another relative.
Upon our arrival we were met with some disturbing news about a mishap on the interstate. Apparently, there was some trouble with the truck and trailer which caused them to pull off the road for a moment. Kris and his brother Kevin were in the truck and their dad, Kenny, was following in his car. Just as they were about to get going again something hit the back window of the car and shattered it. It was a little more than frustrating for all of them and with the threat of rain there were few options. It was decided that I would drive back to the house to open the garage so the car could be parked indoors. Kenny followed me back to where the rest of the family was in Kevin’s car and then helped the guys unload everything. It was a long and tiring day for everyone but we are all so thankful that no permanent damage was done to anyone or anything.
We enjoyed church on Sunday and had a restful afternoon following. We had lunch out and then watched football, played games and watched movies.
Today we had a leisurely morning and then Kris and I met my sisters and their husbands along with my dad, for lunch at Ruby Tuesday’s. We had a good time visiting without kids and then hung out at the mall for a little while.
Kris and I made a couple grocery store stops for specific items and then headed back to the house just in time to welcome John, Michelle and Gabe for dinner. It was a very nice visit and we had a good time catching up and playing Balderdash together.
So…the season keeps giving. It’s such a blessing to have good family that also serve as good friends.
So much fun in the span of so little time! It sounds like a feast for the heart.
Wow! That sounds like a lot of goings on at the Kelso house. I’m glad you’re savoring it all and that all the fellas are safe.
I was afraid the result on the interstate was going to be much worse than it was. I’m glad that everyone is OK.
