Every now and then something will inspire me to write poetry. I’m not great at it and I wouldn’t consider much of it publishable but I like to share it now and then. This one came from the observation of two friends who seem to have a beautiful connection with one another’s joys and griefs. I hope that I am as available to my friends as these two are for one another.
Would limb and tree allow
Would leaf with dews soft gleam
Would grass and river, fence and path
Find ways to launch my theme
I could not quiet all the wind
I could not rest the clouds
My words would rain on field and glen
My thoughts the rocks resound
And soon my song would find your heart
To comfort and absolve
Rejoicing in your triumph
Content in your resolve
No small a thing is thought and prayer
when truth and love work pause
My thoughts have found your hand again
My prayer has found a cause
I have to admit I’m a bit of a clod in the poetry department. I don’t usually “get it” but this is beautiful. It’s definitely a talent.
Wow, Mary. Such lovely words- and it sounds like your friends have a friendship to be cherished. I suggest you share this with them.
Oh – that’s lovely. Thank you for sharing. It takes a lot of courage to open up your heart like that.
Yay! No updates for a while, but I’m happy to notice that the picture on the front page now includes the whole family. It’s a good photo. Hope you’re having a swell week:)
