Everyday Life

Tuesday

I was able to cut the grass over at the old house today. Big THANK YOU to Josh Weber for loading and unloading our lawnmower in the back of his pick-up, driving it to the house and back and acting like he enjoyed it. I made cookies for the Webers but that does little to repay such kindness.

While I was there (at the old house) Elaine, our realtor, showed the house to another seemingly interested prospective buyer. She is a single mother, hoping to buy her first home. I really hope this house sells to someone who will appreciate it like Kris and I did. Okay…maybe I complained about the size for the last couple of years we were there, but I always loved that house, and I still do. I love the floors, I love the paneling in the nursery, I love the pantry we made out of the back end of the bedroom closet, I love the office and the laundry room, the yard and the trees, I love the memories of course and I am going to miss it once it’s sold. I will love having it sold though. I am looking forward to one mortgage payment.

I drove to Hendersonville and back today. It’s so frustrating to look at a point on a map and realize that if you draw a straight line from your home to that point it’s less than 3 1/2 miles away. But to actually drive to that point is nearly 20 miles. There is a lake between us and Hendersonville and the only way across is a 30 minute drive at least. I drove up there to run through a script with some girls who are performing for the Night of Laughter on the 19th at our church. It’s a women’s ministry event and I love the fact that I get to coordinate it and I hate being responsible for it all at the same time. It’s going pretty well, and the only reason I don’t like being responsible is because I have to ask so many people for help and I hate bothering people. I’m getting better about it, but it’s way out of that cozy little comfort zone I enjoy so much.

I hurried back from Hendersonville and got home just before Melissa pulled in to drop off Jayna for the evening. She and Josh were going to a doctor appointment to see what the sex of baby number two will be. They had also made dinner reservations at the Melting Pot for the post appointment celebration. I was happy to watch Jayna for them as they have been so willing to watch Owen for us on numerous occasions. I still owe them. Jayna was a breeze, and of course Owen was again fascinated by having a big kid in the house. They returned with pictures of Jayna’s new sibling and even had the three dimensional pictures to look at. For those interested, Melissa will be having a _____________ .

I’ll give her a chance to tell people before I post it on the internet. Give her a call if you really want to know.
