The power went out last night. What a hubbub. Beeping everywhere as computers shut down and Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’) warned of dangerous memory losses and failures everywhere. Okay, it wasn’t that bad, but there was a lot of beeping to silence so that we could continue our good night’s sleep (GNS). Owen had just awakened me to let me know that he had to go to the bathroom and though normally I would simply encourage him with a simple “okay, go” and then go back to sleep, I had to get up this time because since his little tumble at the park he’s not walking on his scraped knee. No, I did not carry him to the bathroom, big old three year old can scoot on his rear end if he’s not going to walk. But I did help him with the particulars of pottying. Anyway, because of all of this, I was already wide awake at 2 something when the power went out. This was probably a good thing.
Today, the cable is down, so phones aren’t working and since we were going to the library again anyway…I’m blogging away from home. The boys are bored silly but we’re waiting in line for the ventriloquist so, this 30 minutes is mine and they can hold the after 10:00 portion of the morning.
I’d better go…the line is stretching accross the building and we aren’t in it. Good grief.
I hate that UPS beeping! Why do they beep? Is it to let you know the power is out? Because I’m usually clued in long before things start beeping. Gah! Can you tell I hate the beeping?
Funny that the line should be so long for a ventriloquist! But I guess during the summer you have to take what you can get in terms of entertaining the little ones. I’m sure the boys will love it, I know I did as a kid. Ooh, you have to let us know if Owen starts trying to talk without moving his lips!
I hate when the power goes out. Fortunately it doesn’t happen often at all. When it does, we suddenly realize how much we take our electricity for granted. The world is not the same without electric power, is it?
