Blogging has taken a backseat lately. I haven’t commented on anyone else either. I’ve read some but not commented. It seems that I haven’t been home much. This week has been full and lots of fun with a couple of trips to Franklin where Travis and Amy have just purchased a house and then two trips up to the church (three for Kris) in the evenings. I haven’t had a lot of sit down and write time. I did make sure to get a little quilting done, which requires no organized thought process, just free wheeling in the brain while the hands move automatically. I so enjoy that.
So…to catch you up to what’s going on in the front seat I’ll start back a little way. Owen had his birthday party the night after the Night of Laughter. We met under perfect weather conditions at Charlie Daniels Park in Mt. Juliet. Owen had a great time and I hope to post more details on his blog soon. Kris’ Grandparents came for a visit a few days later but did not stay with us. Kris’ cousin in Santa Fe, TN hosted them for four or five days and we were able to go and see them one of those days. I hated that we couldn’t spend more time with them but it’s just that much of a drive that it wouldn’t work with our schedules. So Thursday of last week, Owen, Ivan and I drove down there in the morning, spent the day visiting and having a great time with family and then Kris joined us for one of the best dinners I’ve had in a long time. Brooke made a roast and her sister brought home grown squash and green beans, I donated the corn of course (from dad’s garden) and then we had a little cheesecake and coffee for dessert. It really was wonderful. Unprocessed food really tastes so much better.
On Sunday Travis and Amy moved out of their apartment and into a house. We are so excited for them and were able to help with the move. On Monday the boys and I were here at the house most of the day and then went back to help the Buttons with a little unpacking on Tuesday. Amy and I cleaned out cabinets while the kids played and even emptied a couple of boxes in the kitchen. Wednesday I took the boys shopping. I am not one who enjoys shopping. I hear many women talk about going shopping to relax and I must say it has the complete and total opposite effect on me. I go because I have to and am exhausted by the time I’m done. But we were productive with our time. Target, Goodwill, Hobby Lobby and Wal-mart all held some goodies for us and the boys took naps upon our return. Yesterday I drove to Franklin again, this time to get Amy and the girls out of the house. We made a trip down to Don & Brooke’s again to throw rocks in the creek and have a picnic lunch. Then we took a scenic drive on the Natchez Trace and enjoyed the beautiful Fall colors even through the rain. Once again the boys took naps once we got back and then it was baths and hurried rush to get ready for church again.
We had leadership dinner last night and afterward, Josh and Melissa loaned us a couple of little girls over night while they took a trip to Missouri. Normally I go to Prayer meeting at 6:00 on Friday mornings but with four children we not only didn’t have room in the car, I didn’t think we could handle the hour of sitting in a pew. The beauty of it is, all four of them slept until after 7:30. Awesome!!!! Jayna and Krista are here and the boys couldn’t be happier for the playmates. Owen enjoys Jayna so much and Ivan and Krista seem to look on with wonder at the two of them.
I am having a good day and hope to get a little laundry done before the sun goes round the bend again. My bed isn’t made and my floors need some work but at least I made a blog entry.
Sounds like you’ve had a productive two weeks since the NOL and the O-man birthday bash.
Ahhh, blogging…I’m there with you. I need to update as well.
Thanks so much for taking time to help me scrub the nasty cabinets and for taking us to Santa Fe, we had a blast.
Since i’ve come home I haven’t been as into blogging either. I’ve been reading some but not adding entries as much. I did just post some pictures on my blogger account though. Glad the birthday party had some good weather. Hey, Bella’s birthday is coming up! Maybe…
