A Good Friday

Becky e-mailed this morning and offered to take the boys for the day. She met me at the church and we loaded up her van with car seats and kids and went our separate ways. This arrangement came about due to my schedule being a bit loaded down. My preparations for The Night of Laughter have been hampered by the interruptions of nursing and caring for my little guys. When Pastor Sandy asks me if there’s anything she can help me with I’ve said, “I need a babysitter” and she laughs. Obviously she can’t do that but that’s exactly what I’ve needed. I realized the other day that I was trying to close my bedroom door and sit down to write funny skits with an 8 month old baby screaming just on the other side of it. That just doesn’t work.

Today, I was able to finish a little writing, cast a few parts, send some e-mails to get scripts approved, organize my line up and make quite a few phone calls. It was sort of affirming when the people I called said things like…”how are you getting all of this done with two kids?” I told them my children play together quietly for hours at a time and I don’t have to watch them or attend to them but on very rare moments. It’s great to be a perfect mother.

I’ve also had the construction project of the summer hanging around for far too long and with my freedom today I tackled and finished that job as soon as I got home. I am very, very, very happy to have it done.

So…big THANK YOU! to Becky for watching the boys today and here are some pictures of the transformation to the new wall:

  1. I hear you on the kids thing- isn’t it great to be a perfect mother? 🙂

So glad that you were able to pack so much in. Sometimes, I find the hardest thing is to ask for help. Us moms need to be more willing to do that, I think, than trying to prove it to the world that we can handle it all on our own.

The wall looks great. I hope you have a great time with your dad, and I look forward to hearing more about what you’ve got cooking for Night of Laughter.

  2. I am at this very minute being a perfect parent! The girls are quietly coloring at the table. No one is fighting! HA!
The room looks great! Did you finish cleaning all of the drywall dust? Love that stuff.
