Everyday Life

Diving In

I’m ready to reclaim my house. Not that it has been out of my control but certain aspects of life have been. Though I don’t consider myself a control freak it is nice to at least know where everything is and where it is all going. I have been sharing the house with family. Kris’ mom and dad along with sweet Mema left yesterday morning after not quite a week of activity and fun here in Nashville. The boys were in attention heaven and I was enjoying myself and our family greatly, but even good things must have final pages so that we can more greatly anticipate the next chapter. I don’t think I have the time to go into all that we did during their visit, but I will say that it was a busy week and I had a great time.

Today I’m giving myself over to a fresh start on a lone week of being at home. I will try to take command of the post and get all things dirty, cleaned and all things astray, back to their proper homes. Sheets will be washed, carpets will be vacuumed and even toilets will have their day with the scrubber.

Owen has a guest for the day. His cousin Hope is here and though that means an extra little person to look after, it also means a friend to keep him occupied while I ramble about.

Psalm 33:9 says “For He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.” So often I see life as chaotic, the whirlwind of it all leaves me feeling out of control and frustrated. God, however, works with absolutes and today I choose to stand upon this Word and believe that what is important and what is vital is done and will stand fast. Maybe the whirlwind is a gift to help us differentiate between what should be a priority and what is only fluff. Give me truth to keep me occupied and let the rest blow away, it deosn’t matter anyway…”what is the chaff to the wheat?” (Jeremiah 23:28)

  1. It sounds like you do have everything under control. Good luck getting everything done, I know you can!

  2. Thanks for letting us blow through last week, and mess up your house and your kids. It was such a wonderful time with them and with you. Hope you find all the missing dishes!
