We made it safely to Grandmother’s house. Kris drove the first 3/5ths or so of our journey then I took the helm for a while. I gave the wheel back to Kris after we got off the interstate and were on the home stretch into Lakeland.
Some of you forgot to pray for us…I don’t know who you are but that request I made for prayers for our patience was not heeded. Okay…maybe that’s not your fault. 🙂
Actually, it wasn’t too bad. No one lost their temper, or went completely insane, we just had a lot of misery to overcome and there was much sighing. Owen has a sore throat that seemed to develop as our driving day wore on and culminated into our stopping at a Wal-mart at 1:30 in the morning to look for some medicine. That helped. Ivan did very well other than spitting out his pacifier a lot and then begging for it back. Thumb sucking would be the advantage in times like that but I’m still sticking with the pacifier if possible. We arrived in Lakeland at Kris’ parents house sometime between 3:30 and 4:00 in the morning on Monday. We got to bed and slept pretty well and pretty late as you can imagine. It has been interesting to adjust to the time change and a trip into the Eastern time zone all in the same day. We lost two hours on Sunday and in some ways it was to our advantage because to our internal clocks we arrived at 2:00 in the morning instead of at 4:00. I feel like I caught up on a lot of sleep last night and feel much better this afternoon than I did yesterday.
Kris called a little bit ago and is on his way home from Sun-N-Fun. He went by himself this morning and will tell us all when he arrives whether or not it is worth our time and money to join him the rest of the week. I am tentatively planning to join him on Thursday, depending on his report and my ability to provide milk for my nursing baby Ivan. We will have to leave him with Grandma and I didn’t bring extra supply (what was I thinking?).
I will close for now and update you all on my weekend with the women in my next entry.
