A Week Almost Over

Well it’s Thursday afternoon and I’m winding down the week. I have been somewhat productive and thought I’d post a few pictures of my projects.

Taggie This is my rendition of the popular Taggies that have hit the market. I never needed such a thing for Owen as he was the most non oral baby I’ve ever seen. But after watching Joey, who is completely fixated with putting things in his mouth, I wanted one for Ivan just in case he’s more inclined to taste observation. The Taggies I’ve looked at are all very colorful and I’m sure that’s appealing to a baby but as I didn’t want to spend a lot of money and I rather like the color coordinated “manly” look for my male babies I decided to use some of the fabrics I already had and just add the cost of ribbon. I had enough for four of these little blankets and rather like the way they turned out. The back is navy blue fleece and the front is plaid flannel. I have decided to sell the other three on Ebay and see what I can get for them. I need to come up with another name since Taggies is a trademark…any ideas? Maybe it doesn’t matter as long as I emphasize that they are not official or authentic Taggies.

Ivan's QuiltIvan's QuiltI have finished the embroidery on Ivan’s quilt top and have set it up in the front room to begin quilting. I have actually started quilting today but the pictures were taken yesterday so you can’t see that. Everything turned out pretty much like I had planned it except that I was too lazy to look for fabric beyond what Wal-Mart had on their shelves. The blue is fine but the green is not nearly as “olive” as I would have liked. It will work though and I am quite pleased with the final outcome. Owen has been “helping” with this project and constantly asks if it is “Ivan’s quilt?”

I’m hoping to get more quilting done today and really get a good jump on this project. I think I can get it done quickly as I am trying not to over do it on the quilting lines.

Speaking of today…this is my second to last day with Joey and believe it or not…he’s already gone. His dad had to get some work done on their car so he decided to come and get Joey early and hang out with him for the afternoon. Tomorrow is my last day and he is only working half the day, so I am almost done babysitting.

Also…we had another appointment with our Midwife today and she pronounced me “perfect” so all is well on the Ivan front. Our next appointment is December 1st at which time I will be free to deliver since I will be 36 weeks. Of course it’s better if he doesn’t come too early so I’m shooting for between the 10th and the 20th. As if I get to choose. Let’s just say I’m still praying, and beg you to pray as well, that the poor child has a birthday that isn’t too close to Christmas. I don’t think that’s asking too much.

  1. I have never heard of Taggies…so I checked out their website…I clicked a couple of links and they didn’t work, but the one I did click had this to say: Any copies of Taggies products are in direct violation of patent, trademark and copyright law. These copiers currently are and will continue to be pursued. We greatly appreciate being made aware of such items. Not only are we at Taggies committed to protecting our intellectual property, but also want to ensure the safety of children everywhere. Please feel free to email us should you find any imitation versions of the Taggies line. In our appreciation of your notification of any product infringements that you may find, a donation of Taggies will be made to a charity. In addition, your first name and state of origin only will appear on our Random Acts of Kindness page as sincere recognition of your efforts.

Sooo…I am not sure if selling them on ebay is a good idea or not, but fwiw, I think it looks awesome and just like some of those things on the website…so I am wondering how Ivan will like it!
I bet that was your midwife I saw knocking on your door today…funny, I thought it was some sort of religious person coming to share their version of “good news” LOL
I can completely relate to where you stand on the when he is born thing…Jackson was due Dec. 31…I wanted to make sure of 2 things..that he was indeed born before Jan (tax break you know) and that he wasn’t born on Christmas or Christmas Eve. He came on the 18th, one week before.
PS is this my longest comment ever or what?? LOL

  2. hmmm…you won’t turn me in will you Sherri? I am glad you told me, I wouldn’t have even thought of the fact that I would be infringing on their profits. I had seriously considered just hanging on to them and giving them as gifts as friends have little boys so maybe that is a better option.

Amy – you are far more creative than you give yourself credit.

  3. Cool “those don’t look anything like Taggies” (because of above comment). I had never heard of them before either, but I think yours looks better then theirs! Sure glad that Sherri noticed that, but it was also a good idea to try to sell them. Oh well!

The quilt is amazing! You are SO fast!

  4. You floor me! Quilting, Taggieing! yeah, let’s not get jail time right before giving birth shall we?!
    Busy little beaver.

  5. If a pregnant lady goes to jail, is the baby considered an accomplice? And if so, does any in-womb jail time count towards their sentence?

  6. I don’t know…I could get a lot of embroidery done in jail…if they allow needles. I’d have to learn to break the thread with me teeth I guess because scissors certainly would be a “no no”. I’ll have to put a call in to Martha Stewart and see what she was able to accomplish.

  7. You know one of her inmates knitted her a shawl, and she said that it’s one of her favorite possessions.

The things one could accomplish in jail… Thank you cards, Christmas cards, blogging, photo albums, scrap booking, and so on. The list is endless…I might decide to make on of those little things, sell it on e-bay just so I can have some free time. Hey we could even get all of us in on it and then we would be able to be together. It would be like an extended girl’s weekend trip! Let me know when you want to go and then I’ll make mine.

  8. Turn you in? Of course not…let me see, did they mention any type of reward? Just kidding!!
I do think it is cute! And if you want to sell them on ebay, I thought it was a great idea until I read that paragraph…I suppose you could take your chances though!
