At our wonderful sewing party last Thursday night (which I meant to write about but never did) I was given a brief tour of Madison’s bedroom which now is complete with bunk beds. She showed me how quickly she can climb to the top bunk and while she was there she handed me a stuffed Winnie the Pooh Bear. She said…”You can take this for Owen.” Now, I’m fully aware of Madison’s giving nature but I don’t like to just take toys away from kids…I questioned her and made sure that she truly wanted him to have it and then accepted knowing Owen would love, love, love it.
I didn’t give it to him right away but waited for a good opportunity when I could slip it into his crib while he was still sleeping. When he woke up I listened to him and actually got a little camera video of him playing with the bear. He said…”I got Pooh!” over and over and then after several other exclamations he said “I love Winnie Pooh.” They were inseparable the rest of the day and when it came time for a bath. Pooh was soaked before I knew what was happening. So the two of them got a bubble bath and afterward Pooh had his own towel. I got a few pictures of them sitting together in their towels…in one of them you can’t really see Pooh because he is being kissed by Owen. I explained to Owen that if he wanted to sleep with Pooh he would have to be dried. So the most traumatic part of the day was Owen crying hysterically while I closed the dryer door on poor Pooh. I was able to distract him while Pooh fluffed and as soon as the dryer buzzed Owen ran to his rescue. Soon after I sent them both off to bed.
The novelty of the new doll is worn off a slight bit today but Pooh is definitely close by wherever Owen may be.
Those pictures are so precious. I’m glad Pooh is being loved. Madison will love to know that her gift is so appreciated.
That is soo sweet. I love when a child lights up over a favorite toy.
The idea of him mourning the loss of Pooh to the dryer! Awwww.
what a sweet boy!
So, so precious! Owen is such a sweet boy.
