I finally finished painting on Saturday. It only took about a month and poor Owen was back and forth in different beds at different stages but he handled it pretty well.
I worked on it pretty much all afternoon on Saturday. In the morning I drove to Home Depot and got the paint and then to Walmart to get some groceries. Once we were back home and Owen and I had eaten lunch I put him down for a nap and got started. He slept well over three hours allowing me very productive time and I am pleased with the way it turned out. I don’t know yet exactly how I want to decorate the final room but I am glad to have it painted and put back together. We added the full size bed to the room and eventually Owen will sleep in it but we are going to let him stay in the crib until after his birthday. Kris’ parents as well as his Meema will be staying with us for a few days and we will let Meema have the big bed and Owen’s room while Kris’ parents can sleep on the king size in the guest room and Owen can survive one last stint in the pack-n-play in our room or the bonus room. After that we will begin to transition out of the crib and into the full size bed. We may leave him there until the Fadely’s want the bed back or we may decide to let him use it only until we begin the potty training process. We don’t necessarily want to risk accidents on someone else’s mattress. We shall see how things go. As it is, we have a twin size bed frame that includes a solid walnut headboard and footboard. We don’t have mattress or box springs so we’ll have to purchase that. Owen has been sleeping on the king size bed while I paint so I don’t think transitioning him out of the crib will be difficult. I’m sort of excited about it. So…as promised long ago…here are a few pictures of the room.
I like the room. Very mod. All boy. I use those pads under the sheet and on top of the mattress pad for Emma in case of an accident. I am having trouble describing the pads. The ones I have are kind of quilted looking. So far we have had only one accident that wasn’t on the pad.
Oooohhh! I love the colors and the effect of the stripes. Looking forward to seeing it in person.
Target has plastic sheets for about 5 dollars. Get one even before potty training since diapers can leak or kids get sick and throw up. On a few occasions, I have been extremely glad I did that for the beds in the boys’ room. (That didn’t come out rude did it? I’d suggest it even if it weren’t my bed.)
LOL. No…I didn’t take it as rude anyway Tisra. Good suggestion.
Very nice room!
So cute! I can paint my apartment here but the stipulation is that I paint it back to original before I move. I would paint except that I don’t know if I want to deal with painting as well as all of the other stuff one must deal with when clearing housing. π
P.S. I see Owen’s little head in the lower right corner. Haha So cute! π
Love the room. It’s so “boy.” I’m sure that’s what you were going for. You always have great taste and a good “mind’s eye” for decorating. That’s why I consult you whenever I second guess myself π Plus I know I can count on you for honesty and you won’t just tell me what you think I want to hear! Trust me, I want to hear the TRUTH, so in the end your honesty does tell me what I WANT to hear:)
It looks absolutely amazing. Good job! I wish I were as focused as you are when it comes to projects. I still havenβt bought the paint to do our bedroom. One day it will happen and I will have pictures to post of my own. Again, good job, I look forward to seeing it live.
Well, LaDonna, I am working with only one child instead of three. That would change my focus I imagine. Maybe I can come up and help you once you get the paint. I’ll have to let you know when I am Joey free so I wouldn’t have to rush.
WOW! That would be amazing! I would love your help and of course your company.
