Okay…that is the last instruction for the cookies. I don’t really have the recipe in front of me but I know that part. Actually I remember the recipe says something like 7 minutes but that’s never long enough and in fact…I think I’ve had to go about 13 minutes in the past so…watch those cookies!
Had a nice weekend. Saturday we ran a few errands and cleaned the house. I took on the usual and mundane while Kris tackled the bed again. He is determined to rid the bed of any and all smell. I am not as sensitive to it as he seems to be but I understand his need to eradicate. We used just plain water and then sprinkled the clean and dry with baking soda. We are still a bit scented however so there will be more effort made in coming days. Saturday afternoon we went to the Weber’s to spend time in the pool and then enjoy some grilled pork chops and yummy sides. It was a very nice time. I always enjoy my conversations with Melissa…she is one of the nicest people in the entire world I think. She is completely unassuming and always patient beyond measure. Nothing like myself I’m afraid. It’s good to have people in your life who remind you of what you aught to be. Jayna and Owen had a great time together. She is a ball of energy and he is always ready to giggle with someone. They played until they were both completely worn out.
Yesterday was Sunday, and of course that means we went to church. Owen loves going to church and I hope that remains the case as he gets older. The other day in the car we were leaving a store and I said, “do you want to go home?” He let me know that he didn’t want to go home and that where he really wanted to go was “chuch.” I had to laugh, but I’m so glad that he likes going. Yesterday was no exception for any of us. We had a good time there. The worship, the teaching, the preaching and the response were just exactly what we needed and have come to expect, in some ways, from our family at Cornerstone. Pastor Davis is pointed and honest in his delivery. Never holding back the truth regardless of what might offend any man woman or child in the audience.
After church a couple from our Sunday School class came over for lunch. We enjoyed their visit and then rested for a couple of hours before heading over to the Fadely’s to have dinner and watch Napolean Dynomite. They had never seen it and were, I think, humored by it. I find it quite hilarious and will probably have to watch it at least one more time before returning it to it’s rightful owner. I really enjoyed the movie room at the Fadely’s too. What a great thing! Big screen, bright projector and comfy couch…what more could you ask for? We also had a nice dinner of barbecue pork and sides. Tisra even ate an entire sandwich. What a trooper! She still doesn’t like beef, which is one of my favorite things, but she’s made a valiant effort to explore the world of meat and I think we are all quite proud of her. It was nice visiting and seeing the kids again. We don’t see them as much as we used to and Lael is growing so quickly. Her hair is thickening, and I just know they are going to have a heart breaker on their hands. She’s just beautiful. The boys are handsome and growing, both seem to be overcoming childhood obstacles and passing landmarks of growth with aggressive determination. And of course it was nice to just visit with Eric and Tisra. Good times, good times.
This morning I am listening as the boys start up their calls for me outside my door. Owen has been playing on his own for the past hour and Joey was asleep. Both are ready for a change of scenery and I’m sure Joey is also ready for a bottle so off I go to begin the routine. There will be some excitement today as Grace will be here around 11:30 while Becky makes a trip to Kentucky. I don’t know how long I’ll have her but we will have a good time I’m sure. My goal is to get the lawn mowed before her arrival. Wish me happy clipping!
“What a trooper”. Ha. I had to laugh. Yeah, I guess I’m not really a vegitarian anymore. In fact, I’m eating chicken shepard’s pie right now for lunch. I often enjoy turkey sandwiches for lunch and tonight I think I’ll make chicken enchiladas. The times when I most feel like a vegitarian, though, are when I’m cooking. I read a recipe book and follow along, but am I in on all the tips and tricks that a life long meat eater would know? Like this year- eric taught me how to crack an egg with one big whack on the side of the bowl. All this time, I’ve been tap-tap-tapping. The first week we were married was the first time I’d ever cracked an egg. Totally weird. Anyway, I suppose I should have used my own blog for such a comment…sorry that this turned into more of a post than a comment.
I miss Sundays at the Fadely’s.
To Tisra:
I did the vegan thing for a really looong time. But since my son, Gabe, is allergic to soy, and my husband is in the military, we all decided it would be easiest to do the meat thing for now. One day, though, I’ll embrace my veganism full-force (probably after Gabe is grown and out of the house) and oh, it will be good times then.
Now, though, we only eat chicken and turkey. Occasionally pork but rarely. I’ll never touch beef, though. Eeesh.
(I’ll always be a veggie at heart. I just love leafy greens and I still make vegetarian meals at least four times a week. Mmmm!)
And isn’t it fun to use other people’s blogs for our own conversations? Bwahaha!
I almost commented back to Tisra to say…the real test as to whether or not you have hijacked someone’s post is whether or not someone comments on your comment…it’s happened…Tisra is guilty of blog-jacking.
Blog-jacking – the new threat. Next thing you know there will be strict security requirements to post a comment. “I’m sorry ma’am, but before you can enter I’m going to have to search you for personal anecdotes and third-party discussions…”
