Everyday Life

In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.

Well, all is going well around here today. Joey and Owen are both extremely whiny but that seems to be a Monday thing. They need a day to get used to each other each week I guess. I have stripped down the bed and set up a fan in the room and opened a couple windows in hopes of further eradicating any remaining odor or residue from the odornix we used to get rid of the smoke smell. We were able to sleep on the bed last night and the smell didn’t bother me at all so the steps I’m taking now are just to get rid of that “every now and then” whiff I catch as I walk by the bed.

Yesterday we enjoyed a great Sunday morning service. Pastor Davis talked about prescription drugs and how they are abused. Doesn’t sound much like a sermon does it? Well, it was really good…The real message was that too often we use drugs to solve a problem that God could solve for us or that we could solve on our own if we followed certain spiritual and physical disciplines. He especially talked about parents and kids who use Ritalin. If anyone wants to hear it you can go to the website and listen to it until Wednesday when it will be replaced by a new service.

In the afternoon we met Josh and Melissa Weber for a little frozen custard at Amy’s and then stopped in at Kroger to pick up some apples and juice for a healthier bedtime snack. Owen and Jayna played very well and it was nice to sit down with Josh and Melissa for a while and catch up a bit.

I have also been keeping tabs on my friend LaDonna and her family over the past couple of days. LaDonna had a retreat to go to on Friday and Saturday, so her husband Tim took their two oldest children to Huntsville to the Space and Science museum and to a state park. While at the state park there was an accident involving an older couple driving a golf cart. Apparently the woman driving was unable to stop her cart and ran right over Amber and Annalyn who were posing for a picture. Annalyn was only slightly hurt and was only checked over at the hospital. Amber on the other hand has a badly broken leg, a damaged spleen and bruised lungs. She was in ICU until today and had a CAT scan this morning to see if it was okay to do surgery on her leg. She is only 5 years old and needs prayer for healing. Tim and LaDonna are doing pretty well considering all of this. They have an infant son as well and the whole family is down in Huntsville as they watch over Amber. If anyone would like to leave a message for LaDonna or her family I added a topic to our sewing party message board under general discussion that allows you to send a note of encouragement.

  1. Glad the bed is working, I was worried about that. Is it comfortable?

I saw the Jones’ today and Amber is doing well. She was out of surgery and had a pretty pink cast most of the way up her leg. Tim and LaDonna were in good spirits and were thankful for all the prayers and visits.
