Well, the bed is here, but we haven’t slept on it yet. When it arrived we began pulling things out of the box and it all seems to be in good condition, everything is accounted for and it doesn’t look difficult to put together or too complicated to set up. There is, however, a bit of a smell. The owner is not a smoker but the young couple that agreed to sell the bed for her had it in their house for about a week while they took pictures of it and packed it up to sell on ebay. In that week the bed took on the odor of their home which happens to be a habitat for smoking. Oh dear…I think we could tolerate cat urine better than smoke. We have emptied a bottle of Febreeze on it and it is laid out in the garage getting some air at the moment. We will see if a few days of this will help, otherwise we will have to ask them to take it back and give us a refund. Any other smoke smell remedies are appreciated. I am going to call a place in Hendersonville that does a deionization for car interiors, they guarantee they can get a smoke smell out of your car so I want to ask them if it’s possible to use something similar to get the smell out of a bed.
In other news: Kris had to get a haircut last night so I asked him if he wanted to take Owen and get one for him as well. We decided to all go. We found a barber down Lebanon Rd. and Owen watched while Kris was getting cut then a lady approached us and asked if Owen was getting his cut too. We said he was and she set us up in the little booster seat and put the cape on. The cape is what always gets him. We think maybe it’s the way he can’t see or get to his hands but his face got more and more pouty and scared until he burst into tears. I was standing right there and tried to tell him it was like a big bib and that everything was okay…they handed him trucks but he couldn’t see his hands to play with them, finally a sucker was produced and we pulled his hand out from underneath to hold it. He was determined to suck on it and we were trying to guard it the entire time from flying hair clippings. Of course he didn’t really care about that…he had a sucker! I was able to grab a few curls from the clippings that fell and I have them in a little baggy. I don’t even know for sure what I’ll do with them but I have them none the less. His hair looks really nice and he looks even more like Kris now. He did get a brand new, hair free sucker before leaving too.
Sorry about the bed. I didn’t realize it was used. I thought maybe it was new. Hope it works out for you.
It was used for about a year and a half.
now that looks more like my g’SON
He’s still so small and so cute but he looks a little more grown up now.
Oh my goodness he looks so big! Way to go!!
As far as the curls, they sell these little clear plastic pouches in the craft section at Wal-Mart, and you can put whatever you want in them and they have an adhesive on the back so you can stick them in scrapbooks. I put Gabe’s curls in one of these and eventually I’ll get around to making a scrapbook. Perhaps you could try something like that?
Yeah, that’s sort of what I was thinking. Didn’t know exactly what was available, just thought I’d stick it in a scrapbook somehow.
He looks like such a big boy now. Thanks for the picture and the story!
