Everyday Life

1 teaspoon Vanilla

Wow, what a day! Keith and Juda arrived at our house safely on Saturday night and we had dinner together, played some games and talked.

This morning we got up for church, had a very nice service, and then had lunch up in Rivergate while we waited to hear from Michelle. We had planned to drive up to her house and hang out for the afternoon but she had been feeling a bit under the weather so we were playing it by ear. She felt decidedly better when she got home from church and had in fact blamed all the discomfort on allergies. So we made the drive to Fort Campbell and had a nice visit. Her husband John is in the army and they are living on base in a townhome type set up. The yard is nicely shaded with very large Oak trees and they have a little kiddy pool out back that the boys played in. John and Michelle have a 2 year old that is a ball of energy. Gabe and Owen were intrigued by one another and though their temperaments are very different they were able to communicate on certain subjects and unable to understand each other at all on others. It was entertaining to say the least. Both boys had to be spanked at different times and both were very tired by the time the afternoon was over. We drove back to Nashville and decided to get subs at Bellacinos for dinner. I was too tired to cook and it’s very close to the house. It was a great choice and we all came home very satisfied. We were out and about for over 13 hours all together and I think we’ll all turn in pretty early. We are bound for another marathon tomorrow, with a trip to the zoo and the Opryland hotel already in the works.

I am feeling the new baby move now quite a bit. I would have to say much more than I felt Owen. Neither pregnancy brought me that fluttering feeling that most people describe. I feel very decided little pokes and punches. I think this one is already showing a different personality than my laid back Owen. I’m very excited…I feel an adventure coming on. I’ve been wondering lots of things about the baby…the gender of course…but also…what will he/she look like. I’ve been leaning toward believing it’s a girl the past couple of days, I wouldn’t put money on it and wouldn’t be surprised at all to find I’m wrong but that’s my gut feeling lately. I’m hoping for the same blonde curls Owen has and blue eyes. I was beginning to wonder if it’s possible to have a blue eyed child. If I had only been handed down a brown eyed gene from both parents then I would only have brown eyed genes to hand to our children, in which case we could only have brown eyed children because brown is dominant over blue. However, I found out that both my grandparents on my mom’s side had blue eyes, so I have both a brown and a blue eyed gene. Giving us a fifty/fifty chance either way for our kids. It’s good to have options.

  1. I’m glad you guys came out today. It really did a lot for my spirits. The allergies has been kicking my butt this evening but I feel positive that it will subside mostly by tomorrow.

I hope we can do things more often, especially after John deploys and I won’t have anything to do. 🙂

  2. We knew going into having children that they would all have blue eyes. Both of our sides of families have all blue eyes. It has been interesting to see the different shades of blue; God has created in each one. They are all beautiful!

  3. Busy. Busy. Hope that you won’t need a week to recover after having packed in soo much, Mrs. Pregnant Lady. As far as the eye thing goes…look at Eric and I. One brown and two blue kids.

  4. Well, Travis has brown eyes and all the girls eyes are blue. And look at Shane and Angie, they both have brown eyes and Landon’s are blue!
