3/4 cup Granulated Sugar

halfway doneWith only one child for most of the week I decided it was a good time to paint the kitchen. I started yesterday by buying paint in the morning, and puting a first coat on 1 1/2 walls in the afternoon. The color is much more blue than what I had intended but so far I still like it. I think a second coat will prove to bring out more of the green I was going for but we’ll start here and see what happens. Today I started in the morning and was able to get the South wall complete as well as the West wall. I had to pull the stove out and paint behind it which freaked Owen out but he got over it as soon as I started sweeping the trash and dirt out from behind it. He loves the broom and if given the opportunity will push it all over the house. He’s such a good “helper”. I think the room looks better but don’t want to make a final call until the whole thing is done. Tisra graciously offered to help by taking Owen off my hands. I am hoping I can finish the first coat tomorrow and then possibly take her up on her offer on Thursday while I lay on a second coat and get everything cleaned up and put away. Yesterday he napped while I worked and today he watched Sesame Street for most of it. Tomorrow…I’ll just tie him up and gag him. Just kidding of course. He doesn’t try to get into things, he is simply desirous of my attention and will ask to be held or kissed frequently. Of course I’m a sucker and can’t resist him. Kids just shouldn’t be so cute when you are trying to get things done.

I expect Melissa to drop off her girls any minute now. She was given a massage as a gift and chose to take advantage of that today. I hope she really enjoys herself. I just hope Owen doesn’t sleep through their entire visit. He went down a little late and then wouldn’t settle down easily. It’s stormy today and the thunder makes him so uneasy. I rocked him first but he still got upset when I laid him down. Poor kid.

I finally got the lawn mowed yesterday and I’m hoping I can get some more weeds pulled before Kris’ brother gets here on Saturday. The rain today will make them very easy to pull so I’m hoping either tonight or tomorrow morning I can get out there and do some damage.

  1. I don’t know if it’s the picture or not, but it appears to have a greenish tinge from here on my monitor. Not at all the “country blue” you were worried about. to be honest, i thought it might even be darker than that. I think it looks good- can’t wait to see it in person.

  2. At first I couldn’t tell you had painted, then I thought there was a shadow on the wall. These darn computers, you really can’t tell things like that from the picture. I guess we’ll just have to visit and see it in person.

  3. I feel your pain. I have full intentions of painting my kitchen and even have some paint. However, two little girls and my lack of motivation make that difficult. It looks nice from what I can tell.

  4. honestly, I think my background is causing it to look “greener”. But it is over all blue. You guys will just have to come see it at the sewing party next month. Except you Kristy…you’re not invited…I mean…you’re not expected.

  5. I just think there should be ten comments. That’s got to be some kind of blogging record, right? Ok, probably not.

  6. “Well, I think it is a record for my blog.”

I see how you’re just trying to pump up the number by adding another comment, Mary! 🙂
