Well, we are here. We stole about quietly moving boxes from one house to another never letting on to the family in Florida that we were not going to be where they expected us to be when they arrived for their visit. They moaned that we would not have enough space for them and we assured them again and again that we would make a way. Make a way we did. We bought a house. A house where we feel that we can stretch out a bit. The family arrived somewhat anxious as Kris led them to the new residence…where were they going? What is this surprise he spoke of? Will there be a bathroom at this surprise? WILL OWEN BE THERE? All the questions were answered as they pulled in the drive and made there way to the front door. They were surprised and they were pleased. I think everyone enjoyed the new house and now that they are gone I am settling in to the fact that it really is to be my home.
It’s too long to tell how all of this came about but I will summarize by saying that we were not looking for a house but God showed us one that seems to be perfect for us. We took the necessary steps and bought it. Our family (my dad drove down from MI) and friends very graciously helped us move (all the heavy stuff went upstairs). We felt so blessed as we said thank you and goodnight to that last tired and sweatty warrior of moving. Dad was here for another day and a half and we enjoyed having his input and strong back. I had a lot to do other than moving so every helpful hand was very appreciated.
The Sunday following the move was July 4th and our church always holds a big affair for the occasion. Being in the choir I was required to be at rehearsals on Thursday night and Saturday morning. We moved on Friday so I was on the go and dragging poor Owen along wherever I went. He did stay at my sister Becky’s house all day on Friday which was a big help. He bore all the chaos well and I held on to my sanity, but that’s about all I can say for myself. Dad left on Sunday after we all had a very yummy lunch at El Chico North of town.
Sunday night Eric and Tisra came over with their two boys and we enjoyed playing a game and watching fireworks from the back deck and the front porch as well. It was such a pleasant night and the mosquitos didn’t even show up. Not that they were invited. Monday was a day off for Kris because of the Holiday and Tuesday his family arrived. We have not had a normal day at home until today so here I am sitting at my little computer, with Owen taking a nap in his room, and I’m home.
Glad you’re “home”.
Holidays over, company gone. I’m sure you had fun with everyone and the surprise was probably exciting. Now comes the hard task of unpacking and decided where things belong.
All of our moves have been similar: moving to Nashville was preceded (two days) by our wedding, moving from the apartment to our house on Longview was followed immediately by a trip out to California before we really had a chance to unpack, and the packing for this house was interrupted a bit by a trip out to CA for Colin’s graduation the week before closing. Maybe next time, we can just move.
