As Owen and I were standing in the garage today getting ready to leave for the greenway, I heard him say, “poop.” I said…”Do you have a poopy?” He looked at me, repeated the word twice and didn’t move. I waited a little and then looked at him again as he assumed the pose of one making personal effort and grunted. It was good timing as we were about to leave and I hate having to do that when we are out.
Once the boy’s posterior was clean and glowing again we drove to the YMCA trailhead for the Stones River greenway and proceeded to unload bike and trailer for a good ride. We didn’t go far but probably covered about 4 miles riding to the Interstate and back. There are several steep places and that gave me a good work-out. We got sprinkled on too but nothing too drastic. What is worse is the people who don’t leash their dogs. There was one on Monday and two today who were carrying leashes but not using them and allowing their (rather large)dogs to roam freely onto (yes, I do mean onto)unsuspecting people along the trail. Because we were there early in the day and there weren’t a lot of people out I suspect these people figured they wouldn’t encounter enough people for their dogs to be a problem and they were mostly correct but dogs are fascinated with bikes and trailers I’ve found, and they do want to chase us and be involved in our activities.
I need to get cleaned up and start some fun activities while Owen is napping. Then off again, this time to the grocery store to pick out a few necessities for the coming days of hunger and meal times. I’m trying to stay ahead of things so that my busy weekends don’t sneak up on me. I’ll let you know how it goes.
People here are always amazed at how much Clay “talks”. I tell them, “This is not talking. This is jabbering.” Owen talks. Clay says a lot, but I don’t have a clue what he’s trying to communicate. He has been adding sound effects to his play and trying out different voices which makes things more interesting. It sounds like you might be blessed and Owen might potty train early.
