time

I have not felt like I have time to do blogging justice lately so I haven’t blogged.

There are certainly some things worth writing about though so I will try to give them a little credit here and then move on.

School is now in full swing and I am enjoying my days with one little “curtain climber.” He is playing with games, drawing and creating and running to me constantly to show me what he’s done, drawn, built etc. He has never been one to play by himself for long so I am trying to be patient in my response to the attention zappers he demands every two minutes.

My dad is visiting. He came down on Friday with some of the sweet corn he’s grown in his garden. He brought some to me and some to my sister and I was able to get it shucked, cleaned, cut and in bags before noon on Saturday. I have just over 9 quarts in the freezer which is just about perfect for us. He also brought me some blueberries that my brother got for me. I love some fat Michigan blueberries and these are not disappointing. Joel’s (my brother) boss’ wife has several bushes on their property and she picks them and sells them. He got me a lot of blueberries and cleaned them and froze them for me. Dad brought them down still frozen and all I have to do is send a check back to Joel.

We took the boys to Holiday World the Friday before last. Kris surprised them and took the day off of work and we all drove to Indiana right after prayer meeting that Friday morning. The boys had a blast and spent most of their time in the wave pools. Owen loved swimming in the waves and Ivan and Aron got more and more brave as the day went on. We had a few hiccups when we first got there including Owen getting hurt on a roller coaster, but all in all it was a good day and packing pajamas, pillows and blankets turned out to be a great idea. We had them ready for bed before leaving the parking lot and they slept the 2+ hours home.

I’m trying to be proactive about the freedom I have. Aron is a good kid and likes to be on the go. So I am trying to plan on visits and outings for myself and for him while we have this opportunity. Having lunch with some of the ladies from our Sunday school class is on my list and meeting up with old friends is already happening. None of this was impossible with two kids, but it’s just a little easier with one and I need to take advantage of it. I may start Aron in school next year or I may wait another year, we haven’t fully decided yet. Then what? Oh the possibilities.

On Saturday we are going white water rafting. I haven’t been in years. Our Sunday school class goes each year but my back has kept me at home. This year I am going. It might hurt a little, but I’m not going to stay back and observe again this year.

Kris is planning to go to Africa soon on a medical missions trip. I am so excited for him as he has wanted to go to Kenya for a LONG time, but I’m not looking forward to being without him. Please pray for him as he goes, for safety of course, but also that for the success of the trip and the people who will be ministered to. He is not going to be treating people obviously, but I am sure he will be an asset to organizing and facilitating their time at the clinic.

Well, Aron is at my elbows as I type right now and I am seeing the clock moving swiftly and my time here dwindling. I should move. There are groceries to hunt down.

  1. What a fun time you are entering into – I promise it is! The freedom that comes as your kids get a little older is so refreshing.
We’ve been to Holiday World a couple of times with Chris’ family. It’s definitely fun, but that wooden roller coaster? I won’t do that again. Ugh.
