I want to go the lake with these gals!
I’m not really anti-swimsuit. I have two of them. I hate the way I look in one of them, but that’s because it’s become a little small for me. My fault, not the swimsuit’s.
Interestingly though…I was at the lake a while back and had not brought my swimsuit because we were just hanging out on a boat. As the heat rose, we decided we wanted to swim and had only one option for water wear: The clothes we were wearing. I was wearing an off white tank-top which isn’t ideal for covering in regard to modesty, but as I had a life-jacket with me I didn’t let that stop me. I was also wearing capri style pants made of a thin nylon and cotton blend. Very comfortable and quick to dry. So I jumped in. I didn’t stay in the water all day and I did get sunburned on my shoulders a bit, but my legs stayed comfortable and cool all day. Having longish and wettish pants on during the heat protected and cooled my legs. I loved it. Now, not all clothing would work so well, but as these were light and thin they worked. I would have been pretty uncomfortable and probably a little chafed in blue jeans. So…next time I go boating…I’m wearing long sleeves too.
I’m probably joking.
It just made me think that we would probably do better to cover ourselves than we do to expose ourselves, but even the most practical of us would feel a little awkward out on a boat in long sleeves, while the rest of the gang is in proper swimming attire. Just sayin’
This is my upcoming reality. Due to modesty and cultural norms, the women swim in saris! It’s gonna be interesting. I might even like it better!
I wouldn’t mind one of those suits right now.
Swimdresses. That’s the way to go.
