Mary Mary Stationery has been busy in December. Not exactly making money, but busy making gifts. I made personalized note cards for the nieces and nephews this year.
I sent the cards for my China nephews to a sweet girl in Minnesota who was kind enough to pack them into her returning luggage to China where she lives and has become friends with my sister Kristy. In that package are three (though the nephews are four…one is not quite old enough to manipulate a pen) packages of note cards each with a nephew’s name and a design befitting of their particular passions.
For Clay, the 7 year old who wishes to be a secret agent I made these:
The small cards at the bottom are for gift tags when he goes to birthday parties and such. No card required, just attach the gift tag to the gift bag or ribbon on the package and viola, done.
Then Thadeus who is 5 and very imaginative, likes dinosaurs, science and adventure:
I learned a few things making these too, which always makes it more fun.
Little 3 year old Christopher got the dinosaur package. He can’t read or write yet, but as I have a 3 year old who also has a 5 and 7 year old set of brothers, I know that he will try. So he also, has a set of cards that he can write his name on and draw a picture for Grandma and Grandpa and all his faraway aunts, uncles and cousins:
I didn’t take pictures of the cards I made for the rest of the nieces and nephews. Here is the artwork though for Grace, Landis, Hope and Faith who we actually got to see at Christmas time:
I did these cards based on Scriptures. Grace, Hope and Faith are terms from the Bible of course and there are many verses that have those words. Becky mentioned to me a verse recently though, that has all three words in it. Romans 5:2. So I used the same artwork basically and changed the color and the name for each girl.
The name Landis…isn’t in the Bible. I looked up the meaning of his name and Landis means “highwayman” which I looked at as a traveler. It was pointed out to me that that term means robber many times but for the sake of this post and Landis’ esteem we’ll go with traveler. Landis is his middle name though, and his first name is Bobby. When you look up Bobby it just refers you to Robert which means “bright fame.” Interesting I thought…Robert Landis is “a famous traveler” and Landis travels and sings with his family. Pretty cool! I looked for a verse along those lines and found Daniel 12:3 “Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.” I thought that was such a cool verse, and really speaks to the true reward of those who share the gospel. When Landis opened his cards he surprised me by liking them A LOT. The girls did too, especially Faith (almost 5), who immediately found a pen on my desk and began writing a letter to her second cousin in Michigan. Too cute.
The three photographed cards are going on Etsy and I may offer the others as well but will take a little more time to print, photograph and come up with a way to offer the personalized name as well as offer the meaning of the name as a Scripture within the artwork. I like the concept but am a little fearful of offering something I can’t produce. What if someone wants a personalized Scripture card for their sweet little girl named Darcy? The name Darcy means “dark one.” Yikes! I need to come up with a disclaimer or something.
You are SO INCREDIBLY talented. These are absolutely amazing and I’m not surprised in the least! Very nice job!!!
What beautiful cards! I think they’re fantastic 🙂
love them all!
